Big defensive stop seals Titans' thrilling win over Bills
Andrew Nelles / Tennessean.com / USA TODAY NETWORK

This could very well be the season-altering win that the Tennessee Titans have been seeking. Taking on a red-hot Buffalo Bills team that had won four consecutive games and led the NFL in both points scored and points allowed Monday night, Tennessee was facing the gauntlet.

Buffalo had the ball fourth and inches from the Titans’ three with 22 seconds left in a game that saw Tennessee lead 34-31. Bills head coach Sean McDermott decided to go for it rather than kick the field goal and send it to overtime.

That’s when stud third-year defensive tackle Jeffery Simmons decided to step up. He held Allen short of the yardage to gain, stuffing the quarterback on fourth down and leaving Buffalo roughly three yards short of the win — sealing the win for the Tennessee Titans in the process.

It was insane.

At 3-2 on the season, these Titans needed a signature win to reenter the AFC championship conversation. They provided that win in front of their home fans at Nissan Stadium.

In a game that saw Derrick Henry run for 143 yards and three touchdowns, it was the embattled Titans defense that stepped up. Obviously, there were plenty talking about the end of this brilliant win.
