Raiders HC Josh McDaniels shuts down Josh Jacobs trade speculation

Josh McDaniels isn't having any part of trade rumors swirling before the NFL season gets underway.

The first-year head coach for the Las Vegas Raiders was asked on Monday if the team was showcasing one-time Pro Bowl running back Josh Jacobs in preseason play to garner trade interest from other teams. McDaniels quickly shot the question down.

"We have no desire to do that at all," McDaniels proclaimed, via ESPN.

McDaniels went on to explain that he doesn't think running backs get enough practice that simulates games.

"And so, giving them an opportunity to actually get tackled, take care of the football, and get acclimated to a new system, quite honestly, I think is the goal," he explained.

While the trade rumors appear to be false, it isn't hard to see why the speculation started in the first place. The Raiders didn't pick up Jacobs' fifth-year contract option and he is coming off of an offseason plagued by an undisclosed injury. Still, it appears Jacobs is staying in Silver and Black, at least for now.
