Ravens defensive coordinator thinks Chiefs' Patrick Mahomes is underpaid

Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes signed the richest deal in sports history when he signed a 10-year, $450 million extension with Kansas City this summer, and Baltimore Ravens defensive coordinator Don Martindale considers that a bargain.

"They could've paid him a billion," Martindale said Friday, according to ESPN's Jamison Hensley. "I'd still think he's underpaid."

Since Martindale took over as Ravens defensive coordinator in 2018, Baltimore has allowed the third-fewest passing yards in the league (203.7). However, Mahomes is the only quarterback in the NFL who has consistently carved up Martindale's defense.

The Ravens have given up 350 yards passing just three times since Martindale took over, and two have come against Mahomes. The former MVP has thrown five touchdowns and one interception in two victories over the Ravens.

In 2018, Mahomes passed for 377 yards against Baltimore, last season he threw for 374 yards. The two sides will meet once again on Monday, and the 25-year-old will be looking to do some damage.

Kansas City will have to play far better than they did against the Los Angeles Chargers in Week 2 to beat Baltimore this week, but they'll certainly step their game up against a team who has strong Super Bowl odds this season.
