Throughout the many years (since 1933) of football played by the Philadelphia Eagles, we as fans have had to watch our team fail pretty much every single year. We have had many winning seasons, yet only 3 times have we won the league championship. Its true we've not been able to win the coveted SuperBowl, but we were winning championships before most other teams existed. We have lost the league championship once and the SB twice. We've missed the playoffs 56 times in team history including last season being the only team in the strongest division in football.
The Buffalo Bills, Cincinnati Bengals, Tennessee Titans, San Diego Chargers, Minnesota Vikings, Atlanta Falcons, Carolina Panthers, and Seattle Seahawks have all failed at their shot at the Lombardi trophy.
The Cleveland Browns; Jacksonville Jaguars; Houston Texans; Detroit Lions; New Orleans Saints, Arizona Cardinals have never played in a Super Bowl.
That is 15 of 32 teams with no SuperBowl victories.
The point is that many teams have endured what we have and just as many have seen the glory, but no city or team can say they have the kind of consistent fan base as we have. The Raiders have some scary fans and nobody can argue that, but day after day and year after year the eagles deal with falling short and we still love our team more than ever.
Through the curse of no SBs, the TO turmoil, the constant offseason rumors, viciously booing our 1999 draft pick, then embracing him knowing he is the very best thing that has ever happened to our city. through watching watching the rest of the NFC east win more SBs than any other division, WE STAND BY OUR TEAM AND LOVE IT.
Every team has great fans, but no team has as many great fans as we do. We are simply crazy about our team. Win or lose, I know my Eagles brothers never give up hope. We put the 'fan' back into fanatic.
We were the first team to have a courtroom in the stadium for those tough losses. We've attacked Santa Claus. We cheered Micheal Irvin's career ending broken neck, and have attacked the Cowboys numerous times. We fight for our team in the stands as the original and best 12th man, and online as the 13 man. Everywhere there is football, there is midnight green lurking. WE LOVE OUR TEAM, AND HATE YOURS PASSIONATELY.
