NASHVILLE- Recent allegations of hazing surrounding the Northwestern University football program have led to the dismissal of former head coach and university alum Pat Fitzgerald, as well as causing other issues for the school.
Tennessee Titans rookie offensive lineman Peter Skoronski starred for Fitzgerald and the Wildcats last season. On Wednesday, following his first practice with his new team in training camp, the first-round draft selection was asked about the developments in Evanston.
"You know, I'll just say, I had a great college experience," said Skoronski when asked if he endured hazing during his time in the program. " But I'm not going to comment much more on that, I'm just focusing on being a good teammate hear as a Titan."
"That's what I tried to focus on doing in college too, so we're just locked in on training camp right now," said Skoronski.
As for being surprised by the reports, Skoronski had this to share.
"Yeah, you know, obviously, it was a tough few days there, but I have to lock in on training camp, so, you know," added Skoronski. "I'm focused on my job here right now."
The Titans rookie did admit that he was surprised when he learned that Fitzgerald had been relieved of his duties as head coach.
"Yeah, I'm definitely surprised by that," concluded Skoronski.
Asked again about the issues that might have occurred during his time in college, Skoronski repeated that he would not get into that.
"Like I said, I'm really just focused on training camp right now. I'm not looking back at certain events of the past few years," concluded Skoronski.
Focused on training camp, Skoronski opened where he left off during OTAs as the presumed starter at left guard, where he is working to hold onto his position and build a solid foundation for his young career.
