Warren Sapp says the Bears are trying to trade Justin Fields
Lon Horwedel-USA TODAY Sports

We're still months away from the 2023 NFL Draft but the rumor mill is churning faster than ever. What will the Chicago Bears do with the number one pick? Will they select Jalen Carter or Will Anderson? Could they trade down and acquire more picks? Well, according to NFL Hall of Famer Warren Sapp, the Bears are trading Justin Fields.

Will The Chicago Bears Trade Justin Fields?

Warren Sapp was on the Bret Boone podcast and dropped a juicy bit of information. He stated that the "word" out of Chicago is that the Bears want to trade Justin Fields in a package deal to acquire more picks or offensive weapons.

Then, the Bears will go on to draft Bryce Young out of Alabama with the number one pick.

Sapp responded to the notion of the Chicago Bears getting Justin Fields some help on offense. He said the Bears should trade the biggest asset they have to acquire weapons and then draft someone who's more capable of throwing the football.

There has been a lot of discussion surrounding Justin Fields this season and how he performed definitely increased his value. However, Bryce Young is still a young player with potential. Justin Fields learned the Luke Getsy offense and ran it, quite literally.

If the Bears traded Fields, whoever they drafted in place of him would have to learn the offense and start from scratch. Some may say that isn't a bad thing. But one thing is certain in the NFL: if you don't have the talent to throw to, who's throwing the ball doesn't matter as much.

Look at Aaron Rodgers this past year. Without Davante Adams, Rodgers struggled more than before in recent years. Fields needs formidable receivers to put his trust into. He cannot be the entire offense anymore or his career will be cut very short.

Whether the Chicago Bears pull the trigger on this trade or not, at least we still have three months to ponder the possibilities and over-analyze everything... that's a good thing right?
