The Calgary Flames have made a roster move in advance of their Thursday night date with the Detroit Red Wings. With Rasmus Andersson unavailable after being hit by a vehicle while riding a scooter, the club has summoned blueliner Dennis Gilbert from the American Hockey League’s Calgary Wranglers.

Gilbert has been recalled five previous times and has played in nine NHL games this season with the Flames. He’s been extremely useful depth for the club, and seems likely to be their seventh defender until Andersson is ready to go. (If he plays in another game, Gilbert will be subject to waivers if the Flames wish to return him to the AHL.) Gilbert was assigned to the Wranglers on Tuesday.
With the recall, the Flames are back up at a full 23-man roster: they’re carrying two goaltenders, eight defencemen (including Andersson) and 13 forwards.
