Dana White is afraid of Lyoto Machida

I've been accused several times of being a Dana White mark and writing for him. Although I am a fan of White and what he's done with the UFC, that is hardly the case. I have criticized him several times, most notably for being tight with the UFC's wallet when it comes to paying his fighters.

Joe Stevenson has been involved in some big fights throughout his career. However, coming off a devastating loss to BJ Penn in which the UFC lightweight title was at stake, Saturday night's UFC 86 battle against Gleison Tibau may be the biggest fight of his career. MMARated.com spoke with "Joe Daddy" about moving on from the Penn loss and getting ready for Tibau.

Joe Daddy on the comeback trail

Joe Stevenson had the opportunity of a lifetime when he faced BJ Penn at UFC 80 for the vacant UFC Lightweight title in January. He promptly got beaten by Penn in less than two rounds. It wasn't that Stevenson got beat, but he got absolutely manhandled and was a bloody mess by the end of the fight. Penn's elbows cut up Stevenson and he tapped out to Penn's rear naked choke at 4:02 of the second round.

Chuck Liddell and Rashad Evans will face each other at UFC 88 in Atlanta, Georgia, in September. The two were originally scheduled to fight this past weekend in London, but injuries to both fighters caused the cancellation of the fight. Liddell, the former light-heavyweight champion will take on Evans, the winner of season two of The Ultimate Fighter.

Five MMA Fights That SHOULD NOT Happen In '08

All this talk of rumored fights has been really getting to me. Sure, at first glance, some of these sound exciting but I must say that if I were in charge I would definitely not sign most of them. So, with that in mind, I wanted to share the top five fights that SHOULD NOT happen in 2008. Away we go...

BJ Penn Post Fight Interview

I found this interview on Youtube. Basically he said that Sherk was sneaky with his left hook and caught him a couple times. but he thinks that in the end Sean is a much better athlete, a lot stronger, but as far as technique they are both light years away.

I agree that Sean is much more athletic and much stronger, but technique always out weighs muscle...as BJ proved last night. Check out the video

Previewing UFC 84: Penn vs. Sherk

Pre-fight hype is a part of the fighting world. It is a chance for each fighter to talk trash about one another and hopefully it boosts ticket sales and pay-per-view buys. Sometimes you will even get the fighters involved to say something personal that give the fight more of an edge to it and raises the intensity. BJ Penn and Sean Sherk passed that level before their fight was even announced. These two flat out don't like each other and a fight between them on the street would be as intense as their war on Saturday night is expected to be.

If you attend a UFC event live in addition to the fights you get to see an awesome intro on the jumbotron featuring the Who and a ton of legendary highlights from past UFC events. Being that UFC tickets are so expensive I figured I'd post it for people who have never seen it :)

Blood In The Water: UFC 84 Preview

They call this one "Ill Will" mainly because of the matches on the card. On one side, you got a young up and comer facing a UFC legend. In another match, you have one of the best versus one of the cockiest. Then there's the main event.

Words will not describe this card, so let's just go to the preview.

BJ Penn Tells It Like It Is (AUDIO)

BJ Penn is a reporter's dream. The man tells it like it is and drops amazing quotes in the process.

Case in point: Penn's appearance on MMARated Radio. Penn's obviously been very outspoken over the last few weeks and, once again, he didn't hold back in this interview.

You also gotta love the fact that he gets so worked up that he keeps on pressing the buttons on his phone.

Six events in six weeks to bring MMA into the mainstream

Between this coming Saturday and July 5th, mixed martial arts has six chances to vault themselves into the mainstream of sports in America. It is undoubtedly the biggest opportunity the sport has had in its existence to show itself to America on a grand scale.

UFC will put on four shows, including three pay-per-views and The Ultimate Fighter finale on Spike TV. EliteXC has their show on primetime on CBS which will include Robbie Lawler, Gina Carano and Kimbo Slice. WEC will feature the biggest fight in their history when Urijah Faber and Jens Pulver meet on Versus.
