Wild Beatdowns! : Top 5 Bad Boys of MMA

With Rampage's arrest and re-arrest in a span of less than 24 hours, it is time to re-evaluate the state of troublemaking in MMA with a list of the Top 5 Bad Boys of MMA :

5. Chris Leben : Leben spent 35 days in prison for probation violation on a DUI charge. His scheduled fight against Michael Bisping at UFC 85 was cancelled due to this, but he will get another chance to fight Bisping at UFC 89.

4. Rampage Jackson : Rampage's sage of getting arrested for reckless driving and getting re-arrested after friends turn him in out of concern for his safety is the ongoing sage of Rampage's sudden and bizarre meltdown.

3. Jesse Taylor : He got drunk, he pissed his pants. He got drunk, he kicked the window out of a limousine, and he terrorized some female bar patrons at the hotel and boasted that he was a UFC fighter, singlehandedly almost putting UFC on the watchlist of Interpol.

Needless to say, Taylor got kicked out of The Ultmate Fighter, but he will get a chance to redeem himself against CB Dollaway at UFC Fight Night 14 on July 19.

2. Devin Cole : Cole is accused of felony rape. More specifically, he has been charged with two counts of first-degree sexual penetration and two counts of first-degree sodomy. Sounds pretty Mike Tyson to me.

1. Renato "Babalu" Sobral (pictured) : In UFC 74, Sobral defeated David Heath via anaconda choke - and didn't let go. Referee Steve Mazzagatti, begged Sobral to let go, and even tried to break it up himself, but to no avail. David Heath went unconscious, the fans booed, and Sobral was cut from the UFC.

Sobral's excuse? David Heath called him a "motherfucker," so Sobral felt that Heath deserved the unconscious choking. Babalu even dismissed the boos from the fans, saying that they "at least they had a reaction." excuse. What made Sobral's offense worse was that he was arrested for battery and trespassing at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Tampa.

You can experience Babalu's defiant attitude here.

In no way do I condone the actions of these "Bad Boys," but let us reminds ourselves that MMA fighters are humans. They will do good, and they will do evil. Also, they didn't take up MMA to become sages or monks; they most likely started in MMA to knock people out or submit them in the cage. Just because they are "martial artists" doesn't mean they are a cut above boxers, football players or any other athletes in staying out of trouble or living the clean life.

Let us lower our expectations of MMA fighters as beacons of light, and let us save ourselves from the inevitable - and preventable - disappointment.

UFC announces Bisping/Leben in return to England

The UFC will return to England this October with one of the country's most popular fighters headlining the card.

Michael 'The Count' Bisping (17-1) will take on Chris "The Crippler" Leben (18-4) in the main event of UFC 89 on Saturday, October 18th at The Nia in Birmingham, England. Bisping was last seen destroying Jason Day in early-June in a first-round stoppage in London, while Leben beat Alessio Sakara in March via TKO in the first round.

One has to think the winner will be the unlucky next victim for 185-pound champ Anderson Silva in the late-fall.

As Josh Koscheck prepares for his fight at UFC 86 against Chris Lytle, there's no secret as to what is expected from him. Koscheck is already one of the top fighters in the world in the welterweight division despite only having 15 professional fights.

Michael Bisping vs. Chris Leben set UFC 89

In a fight that was originally scheduled for UFC 85, Michael Bisping will step into the Octagon against Chris Leben at UFC 89 in October, in England. The fight that was set for June 7th had to be changed when Leben turned himself in for an old DUI charge. Jason Day stepped in for Leben and was quickly overwhelmed by Bisping. It took Bisping only 3:42 into the first round to score the TKO victory.

Dana White please step up and take care of your fighters

There has been an outcry lately by a lot of MMA fans, myself included, for Dana White and the UFC to step up and pay their fighters better. The top draws make the best money but it still fails to meet the standards set by some of the boxing pay-outs. I do like the fact that fighters get bonuses for winning the fight and of course they get paid from their sponsors which is a great source of revenue for them.

Chris Leben Given Jail Time, fight with Bisping Off

Chris Leben will not be fighting Michael Bisping. He violated parole and is going to be spending 35 days in the slammer. I wonder who they're going to have him face, I think a possible fight with Nate Quarry might be in the works. that'd make for an interesting fight seeing as how both of these fighters were dominant in their last PPV appearances.

UFC President Dana White needs to swallow his pride

First, Shogun Rua had to pull out of his fight with Chuck Liddell with an injury. Dana White was able to get Rashad Evans to fill in for Rua. Now, Liddell has been forced to withdraw due to an injury as well. White got James Irvin to fill in for Liddell. Talk about going from the penthouse to the outhouse. White went from having one of the most anticipated fights in UFC history to a fight that even hardcore fans don't care much about. Even the rumored addition of Chris Leben versus Michael Bisping won't be able to salvage a mediocre pay-per-view.
