Nothing has been made official yet, but the word is that UFC 90 will be held in Chicago in late October. UFC 89 is already set for October 18th in London and it is thought that the Chicago event could be held the following weekend, October 25th.

After his defeat to Thiago Alves on Saturday night in London, there now seems to be a growing faction of fans and writers calling for Matt Hughes' retirement. I know Matt Hughes isn't the most popular fighter out there and people have their reasons for not liking him but to say that it is time for him to retire is flat out foolish.

Those would be great stories, but would they really shakeup the world of MMA? How about the announcement of the signing of Floyd Mayweather to a UFC deal?

Thiago Alves showed the world Saturday night in London that he is indeed for real and the rest of the welterweight division is now on notice. Alves beat Matt Hughes at 1:02 of the second round by TKO due to strikes. Alves caught Hughes with a jumping knee. Hughes fell to the ground and Alves finished it with big fists to Hughes' face.

We're just a couple hours away from UFC 85: Bedlam and I thought I better get in with my predictions. First off, I'm really disappointed that Thiago Alves didn't make weight. I can't believe that a fighter who is about to have the biggest fight of his career could come in four pounds over the limit. Alves is a great young fighter but this really makes me question his heart and desire to be a champion in the future.

Matt hughes is training for Thiago Alves in this video. I think he's the favorite is going to take the win via ground and pound. Thiago is a great fighter with a lot of potential but Matt has the experience, knowledge, and wrestling skills to hold him down and pound out a win. What do you guys think? I know one thing is for sure, if Matt does lose this fight then it's more than likely he'll retire.

My MMA Hangover

Despite the amazing show put on by WEC last night, I still can't seem to shake off the abortion of a show that was EliteXC. The only thing sports radio is talking about today is what a joke Kimbo Slice was. People say the best way to nurse a hangover is with more alcohol. So to help out my MMA hangover, I'm going to talk more MMA. Except I'm going to focus on the good and look ahead instead of continuing to look back.
