No need for a panic move

David Wells. Sidney Ponson. Freddy Garcia. Steve Trachsel. Roger Clemens. Yes, Roger Clemens for crying out loud!
With Chien-Ming Wang gone for at least two months and maybe the rest of the season with his injured foot, the amateur GMs are in overdrive. Everywhere you look there are suggestions for how the Yankees can fill the [...]

Another May return for a popular Yankee?

It's now the month of May, the New York Yankees are struggling (although not as bad as last year), so does that mean a blast from the past be returning for another stint? It was the month of May last year, when Roger Clemens showed up at Yankees stadium and announced to a sold out crowd that he was putting the pinstripes back on. We all saw how "good" that worked out for the team. Could Hank Steinbrenner be considering a similar move this year? Don't worry it won't be Clemens again. So who could it be?

Mitchell Investigation broadens scope, to "everyone except David Wells"

The probe concerning illegal performance enhancing drugs in Major League Baseball has reportedly broadened to include every single current player in the sport, except for left-handed pitcher David Wells. According to George Mitchell, head of the investigation, the evidence is too obvious to ignore.

David Wells and the Cardinals?

Gregg Clifton, the agent for pitcher David Wells recently reached out to the St. Louis Cardinals about a 1-year contract for his client. On paper, it would make sense why his agent did this, the Cardinals have a very unsettled rotation and a lot of question marks. The problem is thou his client Wells, is 44, and coming off a horrendous season. Maybe the worst of his career.

Top Names Not on Mitchell Report

In roughly 2 hours Senator George Mitchell's report on Performance Enhancing Drugs in Baseball goes public. Rumors are flying about who will be on the list. Bonds, Clemens, Pujols, and an assortment of other names are being tossed about. No matter what, we all will find some players that we really admire on the list. That's unquestionable. But here's the top five names you won't find on the list.

David Eckstein - At 5 feet nothing and weighing 122 pounds, Eckstein could use some steroids and rocks in his pockets to bulk up. Don't look for "Eck the Speck" to be in danger.

David Wells - Unless beer and Cheese are performance enhancing drugs, don't look for Wells to be anywhere near the Mitchell Report. Wells has always had a horrible dedication to fitness. Even the shortcuts take too much effort for the lazy whale.

Derek Jeter - Why would God need any more of an advantage? When Derek Jeter takes a urine test the room immediately smells like rose petals and peoples faces light up with happiness. Cap'n Yankee won't be on the list, even if he did dabble in roids.

Tommy Lasorda - Uncle Tommy doesn't need drugs, he's got lasagna.

The Philly Phanatic - Is that David Wells in that suit? The Phanatic might test positive for amphetamines or LSD, but not steroids. He's a wacky guy, that Phanatic!

After those five exemptions, look for every other player in baseball to be mentioned somehow. FlyMaster is giddy like a gossip columnist waiting for the Oscar Nominations to come out. Gotta run and make some popcorn for this show.

David Wells has the most famous ball of all

Padres' pitcher David Wells collects baseball stuff, and one of his most prized possessions is something he compiled on his own. He bought a signed Babe Ruth ball for about $7,000 and then had Hank Aaron autograph it. After the Hank Aaron scrawl, Wells got the future homer king Barry Bonds to put his John Hancock on the ball. One ball, the top three home run hitters of all time. You decide.

David Wells suspended by skirt-wearing commissioner

David Wells was suspended seven days for his outburst in last Saturday's game. If you had a chance to listen to his comments on ESPN today, they are hilarious. Something about baseball players soon to be wearing skirts and pitching underhanded. Funny stuff! At least someone is actually making some colorful comments instead of towing the line. It's great to see Boomer not sucking up to management and the league. The linked blog has a great picture of Well's next start.
