Binghamton 1, Akron 2It was a good old fashioned pitchers duel today, between Akron's James Deters and Co, and Binghamton's Bobby Parnell and Co, with Akron coming out on top, 2-1. Parnell had a rough first, giving up 4 hits and a run (being saved from more by Mike Carp throwing out a runner at the plate). Parnell lasted 5.2 innings, allowing just that run, on 8 hits, lowering his ERA under 4. Edgar Alfonzo allowed a run in the 7th, to pick up the loss. The Mets had only 8 hits and a run, themselves. Nick Evans and Mike Nickas had multi hit games, while Ambi Concepcion (0 for 4, .251), Emmanuel Garcia (0 for 4, K, .222) and Jose Coronado (0 for 2, .269) took 0-fers. Nick Abel got the final out of the game to preserve the win and pick up his 2nd save. Bierd has allowed runs in his last 5 outings.
