Mario Hermoso is currently destined to leave Atletico Madrid at the end of the season when his deal runs out, and a report has claimed that AC Milan and Inter are battling for him.

According to El Gol Digital, Hermoso will ‘definitely leave’ Atletico Madrid who by now are resigned to losing him on a free transfer while the defender’s entourage are continuing to probe potential destinations.

Inter apparently consider Hermoso to be ‘one of the best defenders in LaLiga’ and have communicated that to those who look after his interests, and they are quite keen on the idea of landing him on a free transfer.

According to sources close to Inter, Hermoso could sign a four-year contract with a salary of €5m net per season. However, the defender has a salary of €8m with Atleti so more negotiations will probably be needed.

The report adds how sources close to the Spanish defender affirm that Milan have been in constant communication with the player since approximately January, with links emerging last month.

The 28-year-old is in the last year of his contract with Los Rojiblancos which means that any club which agrees terms with him can sign a pre-contract agreement before the transfer window actually reopens.
