Roberto Pereyra has expressed his happiness at returning to Udinese after cutting ties with the club at the start of the transfer window. The Friulani welcomed the Argentine midfielder back into the side as a free agent for another year until June 2024, with the option to extend for a year further.

The 32-year-old was tracked by several Italian clubs, including Inter, Roma, Fiorentina, and Sampdoria, but eventually chose to return to the club that first embraced him when he moved from boyhood side River Plate. Turkish outfit Besiktas also made contact with Pereyra, only for him to reject any advances.

As a free agent, Pereyra was able to sign for Udinese even after the transfer window came to a close at the start of September. Tucu took to his Instagram profile to greet the Friulani.

“We are here at home again. I wanted to greet you and send you a big hug. I’m waiting for you all at the stadium”

Andrea Sottil will welcome Pereyra back into the squad after just a couple of months, with his third debut expected when Friulani travel to Cagliari next weekend. Udinese are one of the five winless teams in Serie A so far, alongside Salernitana, Roma, Cagliari, and Empoli.
