Genoa coach Alberto Gilardino was left disappointed after their Coppa Italia defeat to Lazio.
Matteo Guendouzi struck the only goal on the night as Lazio reach the quarterfinals.
Gilardino said, "Let's talk about the match and not the episode, I'm satisfied with the boys' interpretation of the match.
"It hurts to lose, after the first ten minutes where we gave away the goal the performance was there. I have nothing to reproach them for. I have to think about the balance of the team, I wanted to see certain types of players who had played little to understand if I could count on them and many responded.
"Tonight we knew Lazio's quality, (Mateo) Retegui had two opportunities to score despite not creating much as a team. We could have evened it and then in the finale there was the episode."
