Jude Bellingham has named brother Jobe Bellingham among the players he believes can win the Golden Boy Award.

This year the award was won by Jude following an incredible 12 months with Real Madrid and Borussia Dortmund.

The prestigious honour is given to players under the age of 21 and is essentially a European Young Player of the Year award and previous winners include Kylina Mbappe and Lionel Messi.

Jobe Bellingham is not currently eligible given Sunderland are not playing in the top tier of any European league, although Jude clearly believes big things are in his future, whether that’s as a midfielder or an attacker.

Asked which players he thinks can win the Golden Boy next year, Jude Bellingham told Tuttosport: "I'll say three names.

“First of all, Arda Guler is a phenomenon, we see him training and we are delighted with him.

"Then my former teammate Jamie Bynoe-Gittens, from Borussia Dortmund. And finally, my brother Jobe, a thoroughbred striker like our father.

"If Sunderland were to be promoted to the Premier League, watch out for him!"

Who is Jobe and Jude Bellingham’s father?

Jobe and Jude Bellingham’s father is Mark Bellingham, who never made it as a professional footballer but is a bit of a non-league legend.

He was a police officer with the West Midlands Police and played for numerous clubs during a 24-year career that spanned 24 years.

By the end of that career he had scored more than 700 goals in what he estimated was around 900 games.

“The 700th was a free-kick which isn't regular for me at all,” Mark Bellingham said after scoring his milestone goal in for Midland League Division Two side Paget Rangers in 2016. “Anything outside the box for me is abnormal!

“I needed 38 goals last season but got to 36 and then was banned for the last game because of a red card – my first ever sending-off.

“I was thinking over the summer whether it was the right time to go out, but with just two needed to reach 700, it felt like there was a bit of unfinished business. It's out of the way now so I can chill out.”

He was 40 then and played another three seasons for Paget and Southam United before quitting in 2019.
