Juventus made a small investment to sign Tiago Djaló in January and defeat Inter in the race, which wanted him on a Bosman move. However, the defender, despite completing his rehab from an ACL tear, has yet to get any playing time since transferring to Turin.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport (via Fantacalcio), the staff is taking it slow and working on his conditioning after the major injury. He last played over a year ago. However, they don’t doubt the his value. Otherwise, they wouldn’t have spent €2.6M plus add-ons to onboard him.

In the meantime, Juventus are considering loaning Djaló in the next window, perhaps for just six months, so he could play consistently with less pressure. The idea was floated before his winter arrival, but his entourage shut it down.

The Bianconeri are set to move on from Alex Sandro at the position and need to come to terms with Daniele Rugani since his contract runs out in January.

Our Take on Juventus and Djaló

Perhaps he needed extra time to rehab, and the club wanted to keep close attention to it, but a loan spell would have made more sense right away than in the summer. He’s not an unproven youngster who needs to gain experience. The problem for him is that the Old Lady has yet to play a somewhat meaningless game or even minutes since he joined, and their slump doesn’t favor experiments.
