Lotito on ‘impossible’ Luis Alberto demand and Lazio revamp

Lazio President Claudio Lotito reiterates it is ‘impossible’ to let Luis Alberto leave for free, while commenting on Ciro Immobile and Felipe Anderson decisions.

The Aquile are in the process of a complete revamp this summer, which effectively started when Maurizio Sarri suddenly handed in his resignation.

New coach Igor Tudor has been given the reins and changed their tactics to 3-5-2, which did not go down well with everyone, above all Luis Alberto.

The Spaniard said live on television he had asked the club to terminate his contract by mutual consent and let him leave for free at the end of the season.

“Rescinding the contract is impossible,” reiterated Lotito to Notizie.com today while attending a political event.

Luis Alberto scored the winner for Lazio against Genoa on Friday evening and celebrated by pointing to the badge on his shirt.

“He scored a goal yesterday, played well and showed how much he cares about Lazio, so perhaps what he said could’ve been misinterpreted,” added the President.

There are also question marks over captain Immobile, who had turned down lucrative approaches from Saudi Arabia last year, but now seems ready to accept a new adventure.

“I have not opened any door, nor kicked anyone out of it, all these players have contracts. It is a two-way street with players, I cannot just nail them down and tell them they can’t go anywhere.

“Besides, there have been no offers, so why should I start panicking before anything has happened?”

There is one confirmed exit at least, because Felipe Anderson’s contract with Lazio expires on June 30 and he has already signed for Brazilian club Palmeiras, despite reports he was on the Juventus radar.

“He made a lifestyle choice. He wanted to return to Brazil for his family, choosing a solution that actually penalises him economically, considering he would’ve earned more with our renewal proposal,” concluded Lotito.
