Lazio director Angelo Fabiani had a frank discussion with Luis Alberto following his surprise announcement, agreeing a pact until the summer.

The 31-year-old Spanish midfielder sparked drama last week after the win over Salernitana, where he publicly told the media his plans to leave on a free transfer at the end of the season, keen to terminate his contract with the Biancocelesti.

Lazio did not expect the announcement and were left furious, with president Claudio Lotito making it clear that Luis Alberto would not be allowed to leave for free and would have to find a buyer. He penned a new long-term deal back in October, further muddying the situation.

As reported by Il Messaggero (via LazioNews24), Luis Alberto and Lazio’s sporting director Fabiani met in recent days to discuss the situation, where the midfielder made it clear that he ‘always says what he thinks’.

Despite the high tension between the parties, the Biancocelesti have agreed a truce with the midfielder until the end of the season, when the situation will be fully resolved. In the meantime, he is expected to remain a part of Igor Tudor’s squad and could start against Genoa.
