Kylian Mbappé‘s contract expires in June, and he will reportedly leave Paris Saint-Germain this summer. Many expect the Frenchman to join Real Madrid, but manager Luis Enrique remains optimistic about the situation.

Mbappé and PSG are experiencing a great moment after advancing past FC Barcelona and into the UEFA Champions League semifinal. Nonetheless, there are still questions about the 25-year-old’s future as nothing is official with the Spanish side.

Manager Luis Enrique again spoke about the player’s future in an interview with Amazon Prime Video and noted that he, like many, is waiting for the 2018 FIFA World Cup winner to announce his future plans.

“(Laughs) I’m quite the joker,” Enrique declared when asked about his hopes for Mbappé to renew at the end of the season (h/t Diario AS). “You don’t know me. I often try to crack jokes. I think this question should be directed to Mbappé.

“I’m sure you’d like to ask him, but you can’t. So, I’m waiting to hear from Kylian and the club. Let them make their decisions. Once they do, I’ll gladly answer any questions you have.”

Although anything can happen in the transfer window and nothing is official, CBS Sports’ Jonathan Johnson told PSG Talk that he doesn’t see Mbappé rethinking his decision even if the Ligue 1 side win the Champions League. If PSG makes it to Wembley Stadium and play in the final, the decision will likely wait.
