Andreas Pereira spent the past season with Lazio as his parent club, Manchester United, agreed to send him off to the Rome-based side for a one-year loan stint.

Lazio planned on not opening up talks with Manchester United to keep Pereira, which means that the Brazilian international is currently slated to return to the Premier League side on July 1.

However, Lazio now has a change of plans regarding Pereira’s future with the club.

As noted by the Italian-based outlet La Lazio Siamo Noi, new Lazio manager Maurizio Sarri requested that the club keep Pereira for another season.

Sarri wants to test Pereira with his “schemes” for the upcoming season, as the Italian manager sees potential with the midfielder.

Lazio is now in early negotiations with Manchester United for the talent, which currently consists of talks over a possible one-season loan deal with a purchase option included as well.

Pereira totaled for 33 appearances in all competitions under now-former Lazio manager Simone Inzaghi this past season.

The long-time Premier League talent has two more seasons remaining on his current contract.
