AC Milan were offered the chance to sign Daichi Kamada from Lazio this month but chose not to explore the possibility, according to a report.

Milan were heavily linked with a move for Kamada towards the end of last season given that his contract with Eintracht Frankfurt was expiring making him an appealing free transfer opportunity.

His arrival was even imminent as per some sources, but he never arrived and Kamada’s agent then revealed the backstory regarding how the saga went.

He did get a move to Serie A though, joining Lazio in the end on an initial one-year deal, but he has struggled for game time and remained an unused substitute in their last four games

According to what is being reported by Il Messaggero (via MilanNews), Kamada will remain at Lazio until the end of the season unless there are some surprise twists late in the window.

The Japan international was actually proposed to Milan, but no negotiations appear to be underway at present which suggests that the management are not interested.

However, in view of June – when his contract with Lazio will have expired – there is no shortage of options. Olympique Marseille has been following him for some time, as have Valencia and Real Sociedad.

LaLiga, writes the newspaper, would be the player’s favoured destination at present. Meanwhile, the club’s leadership are not happy with the management of the player and they could push Maurizio Sarri to use him.
