'One of the names to watch' – Romano makes transfer claim about striker with 47 goals who Spurs have been long after

Tottenham Hotspur are preparing for the upcoming transfer window with potential new signings in their sights.

Spurs are said to be focusing on several positions including a forward as several names are being linked to the club.

Among the names linked with the club is young Feyenoord striker Santiago Gimenez.

They have been linked with him since last summer with Spurs even sending scouts to watch him multiple times.

Romano says Santiago Gimenez is one to watch for Tottenham

In a recent interview on the Chris Cowlin Podcast on YouTube, transfer expert Fabrizio Romano suggested that Santiago Gimenez could be a potential target for Tottenham in the summer transfer window.

However, he clarified that there haven’t been any concrete contacts between the two parties.

According to the Italian, Gimenez could draw interest from several clubs, including Spurs.

Romano suggested that the striker might be available for around €40-45 million, presenting a potentially lucrative opportunity for clubs in need of attacking reinforcements.

He said:

“And for Santiago Gimenez, he could be one of the names to watch. At the moment, I’m not aware of really concrete contacts for a proper number nine, as I told you before, but Santiago Gimenez, in general, could be available on the market this summer.

“So, as we said before, there are some early targets for players we already know they want and some targets who can appear during the summer transfer window. I think Santiago Gimenez could be an opportunity for many clubs because, according to my sources, he could be available for something around 40 to 45 million Euros, so quite a good opportunity on the market.”

Gimenez’s contract with Feyenoord runs until June 2027, having been renewed just last year in August.

The 22-year-old has been in outstanding form in the Eredivisie this season, ranking as the third-highest goalscorer in the division, behind only Vangelis Pavlidis and Luuk de Jong. Gimenez has netted 21 goals and contributed 4 assists in 25 appearances.

Since joining Feyenoord last summer, Gimenez has netted 47 goals and assisted 8 others across 80 appearances.
