Manchester United have had a positive start to 2024, going unbeaten so far and are currently on a four-match winning streak in the Premier League after the recent win over Luton Town. However, amid their promising flow, the club has now suffered a new injury setback in the form of Rasmus Hojlund.

Manchester United Announce Rasmus Hojlund Injury Setback

What Happened To Hojlund?

The Danish forward has been in sensational goal-scoring form for the Red Devils over the last few months, having scored in his previous six Premier League appearances to take his tally to seven league goals for his debut campaign. However, it appears that he will be forced to miss a few weeks of action because of a new injury.

United confirmed the knock sustained by Hojlund and stated in an official club statement: “Rasmus Hojlund will miss Manchester United’s Premier League game against Fulham on Saturday due to a muscle injury. It is expected to keep him out for two to three weeks.” Hojlund had suffered from a little injury issue at the beginning of the campaign after his high-profile move from Atalanta, but has now suffered another knock at the worst possible time as so many key games are ahead for the Red Devils.

Who Can Replace Hojlund In The United Frontline?

The 21-year-old forward has arguably been United’s best player in 2024 so far, having recovered well from a disappointing first half of the 2023/24 season to scoring seven goals in all as many matches this year so far. He gained a lot of praise for his resurgence, with teammate Harry Maguire recently hailing him as an “exceptional talent” for being able to showcase his goal-scoring skills well.

If Hojlund does end up missing three weeks of action, he is likely to miss quite a few matches. Not only will he be out for the upcoming game against Fulham, but will also miss the upcoming Manchester Derby against Manchester City (on March 3rd) as well as games against Everton, Nottingham Forrest, Sheffield United (or a potential FA Cup quarterfinal) during the next few weeks. This is a new headache for Erik ten Hag, who recently lost Luke Shaw due to injury, and he’ll now probably be forced to play Marcus Rashford in the centre-forward role as the replacement for the Danish striker.
