Manchester City had one of their best ever seasons in the 2023/24 campaign as they won the Champions League for the first time in their history whilst also winning the treble with their Premier League title and FA Cup trophy.

Many players excelled under Pep Guardiola as they charged to all three trophies but one of the youngsters who had a chance throughout the season reportedly didn't live up to the expectations of Manchester City's staff.

Cole Palmer played 25 games in all competitions for City with most of them being substitute appearances but he still only managed two goal contributions.

According to a report the City coaching staff were disappointed with his performances but they believe a loan out so he can play consistent football and help his development as it will toughen him up possibly in the Championship.

James McAtee had a season in the second division with Sheffield United and he impressed so much that he won their young player of the season award whilst helping them get promoted.

He will now have a chance in the first-team squad under Guardiola next season so Palmer will be hoping his loan out will have the same positive outcome.
