After beating Ecuador 2-1 in their final group-stage game, Senegal became the first African nation to beat a South American side in the World Cup since 1990.

The result means that Senegal secured second spot in group A, finishing two points above Ecuador in third and will now face the winners of group B, which looks likely to be England.
