Trevoh Chalobah urges Chelsea to focus ahead of 'seven finals' in the Premier League

Trevoh Chalobah admits Chelsea must regroup quickly for “seven finals” in the Premier League following their FA Cup semi final defeat to Manchester City.

The Blues were narrowly defeated by Pep Guardiola’s side at Wembley despite creating the better chances with Nicolas Jackson guilty of missing some huge opportunities, whilst an appeal for a penalty for handball was turned down in the second half.

Defeat meant the Blues will finish the season without silverware for the second consecutive campaign, the first time this has happened since Roman Abramovich took control of the club in 2003.

Chalobah put in another impressive display alongside Thiago Silva but admits the Blues were lacking in the crucial moments in the final third.

“The game plan of the manager we worked on the last few days definitely showed”, Chalobah told the club’s official website.

“We stuck to that game plan and it was just the final details, finding the back of the net that we lacked.

“It’s a tough one (Saturday) because we had chances. What we have to do is learn from these types of experiences.

“We’ve been here twice this season and a new group of boys have now had a feel for what being at Wembley is like. Hopefully, we have that again next season and we have to up our levels to get into the final.”

There’s little time for Chalobah and his team-mates to reflect on the disappointment as the Blues prepare to take on Arsenal at the Emirates on Tuesday night.

“We have to really focus and get the boys together because we’ve got another seven finals ahead of us to make things right”, the 24-year-old added.

“We want to show up for the fans and get the club where it should be up the table.”

Mauricio Pochettino’s men head to north London in ninth place in the table, three points behind Newcastle and Manchester United in sixth and seventh having played a game less.

Tuesday’s game is one of the Blue’s games in hand, and a victory would see them move level on points with their rivals in the race for Europa League qualification.
