'unlikely…he ever plays for Tottenham again' – Journalist believes 26-year-old will not play for the club again

Journalist Paul Brown has cast a shadow over the future of Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Tanguy Ndombele, expressing skepticism about the player ever playing for the club again.

Since his club-record £63m transfer from Lyon in 2019, Ndombele has struggled to meet the expectations placed on him. His underwhelming performances failed to win favor with multiple Tottenham managers in recent years.

Despite a loan spell at Napoli last season, which saw them secure the league title, Napoli opted not to sign Ndombele permanently, citing his high valuation as a deterrent, with his asking price deemed too steep by Napoli director Cristiano Giuntoli.

Tottenham found it difficult to find a suitor for the Frenchman in January, but eventually loaned him out to Galatasaray.

However, Ndombele’s time in Turkey has been marred by disciplinary problems and fitness issues.

And he recently had a bust-up with the Galatasaray manager after being caught ordering fast food and coke despite being on a weight-loss program.

This resulted in the manager giving the club orders to send him back to Spurs and end his loan. The clubs were reportedly in talks to cancel his loan deal.

As per Paul Brown, Tottenham are not keen to keep him either and would rather sell him with a hope to get whatever little money they can get.

He believes it is unlikely that he will play for Spurs again.

He told GiveMeSport:

“Never say never and Ange Postecoglou is not the kind of manager who likes to freeze people out, but Tanguy Ndombele has had so many chances under so many managers and never been able to produce what he’s capable of, that I think Spurs are only too willing to wash their hands of him, really.

I think a decision has been made at the board level that he’s free to leave and they will take as much as they can get for him, frankly. So I think it’s unlikely on that basis that he ever plays for Tottenham again.”

The remarks hint at a looming departure for Ndombele from Tottenham, with the club potentially seeking a transfer in the upcoming window to recoup some of the significant investment made in the player.
