While the international break holds the attention of the football world, there has been plenty of Manchester City news to keep track of. Esteemed Kompany host Steven Mcinerney looks at the recent news around Manchester City in the video below.

Manchester City is monitoring Everton defender Jarrad Branthwaite

David Kent has reported for the Daily Mail that Manchester City is currently monitoring Everton defender Jarrad Branthwaite. Branthwaite has arguably been Everton’s best player this season, and his strong form has caught the eye of the world champions.

Branthwaite does appear to have similar attributes to John Stones. With this in mind, he could be an ideal candidate to make a move to the Etihad. Although, the centre of defence is one area where Pep Guardiola’s squad has plenty of options.

Could Jarrad Branthwaite be a player that is just too good to turn down the opportunity to sign? Steven Mcinerney gives his thoughts in the video below.

Kyle Walker suffers an injury on international duty

Another big story has been the apparent hamstring injury suffered by Kyle Walker. City’s captain was substituted early during England’s 1-nil loss to Brazil on the weekend. There is currently no further update on the extent of the injury suffered by Walker. News will likely become available when the full-back returns to the club.

Pep Guardiola is blessed to have options at right-back. Manuel Akanji, John Stones, and Rico Lewis can all play in the position so City can cover the loss of their captain.

Joao Cancelo’s latest comments

Joao Cancelo has also made the news. His recent comments with Portuguese newspaper ABola have made headlines. The defender believes Manchester City has been ungrateful for his contribution to the club amongst other topics he raised in the interview.

The Portuguese international has likely now slammed the door shut on his Manchester City career. Esteemed Kompany host Steven Mcinerney looks at Cancelo’s recent comments and shares his opinion on the full-back.
