VIDEO: Venus Williams Hits 127 mph Serve at Wimbledon

The blurb/introduction above the clip annoyed me - alleges that Serena and Venus never give opponents credit. I'm sick of reading this. Venus has been incredibly gracious this week, and she most often is - casual fans are too damn lazy to read the post-match interview transcripts to see what the players really say. But already this week, most of the coverage of Venus's matches have fairly reported her saying very kind things about her opponents.

Serena, well, she's another story. With Serena, yes, it's all about her all the time. Thing is, she gets grief because she's a woman: if you took her words and ascribed them to Kobe Bryant, there would be no beef. Kobe can be as confident as he wants, no problem. Kobe can say he can score 40 points and not get that much criticism. Serena, however, says a match is/was hers to lose, or that she played poorly and that's why she lost a match, and we simply can't have that can we?

Braggadocio is accepted (or even expected) from male athletes, but still not from women. Hopefully Candace Parker and Danica Patrick will help Serena change this...
