Triple A

The Scranton/Wilkes-Barre Yankees lost to the Pawtucket Red Sox by a score of 5-3. Starting for Scranton was Heath Phillips and he did not pitch well giving up 4 earned runs on 4 hits in 3 innings for the loss. Replacing Phillips to start the 4rth inning was Scott Strickland and he gave a great relief effort pitching 3 scoreless innings. Following Phillips in the 7th inning was Steven Jackson and he gave up 1 earned run on 3 hits in 2.2 innings. Billy Traber got the last out in the top of the ninth inning giving up 1 hit. The hitting stars of the game for Scranton worth mentioning were left-fielder Justin Christian, center fielder Brett Gardner and right-fielder Jason Lane. Christian went 2 for 5 with 1 run scored. Gardner went 2 for 4 with 1 run scored and 2 rbi's and Lane went 1 for 3 with 1 run scored and a walk.

Triple A

The Scranton/Wilkes-Barre Yankees won on a walk off walk to beat the Charlotte Knights by a score of 5-4 in 11 innings. Starting for Scranton was Jeffrey Marquez and he gave up 3 runs on 5 hits in 6 innings of work for the no decision but 2 runs were unearned because of a throwing error by himself and a throwing error by right fielder Gregory Porter. Replacing Marquez to start the 7th inning was David Robertson and he pitched 2 scoreless innings. Billy Traber followed Marquez and he gave up 1 earned run in .1 of an inning. Scott Strickland followed Traber and he blew the game by letting Traber's run score but won the game by pitching 2.2 innings giving up 2 hits in 2.2 innings. The hitting stars of the game worth mentioning for Scranton were left-fielder Justin Christian who walked for the rbi that won the game and second baseman Bernie Castro. Christian went 0-3 with 2 rbi's and Castro went 1 for 3 with 1 rbi.

Replacing Stephens to start the 6th inning was Wilkins De La Rosa and he did not have a good outing giving up 3 earned runs on 4 hits in 1.2 innings. Following De La Rosa was Chace Vacek and he pitched a perfect 1.1 innings. Jonathan Ortiz came in the 9th inning and blew the game by giving up a home run. He pitched 2 innings and gave up 1 earned run on 3 hits. The RiverDogs took the lead in the top of the 12th but the Tourists tied the game again in the bottom of the 12th because Casey Erickson blew the game giving up 2 earned runs on 3 hits in 3 innings but wound up with the win. Erickson started the 11th inning.

The hitting stars of the game for the RiverDogs were catcher Jesus Montero, left-fielder Taylor Holiday and first baseman Brian Baisley. Montero went 3 for 6 with 2 runs scored with 2 rbi's along with a big, juicy, hurt your feelings type of, home, run BAHHHHHHMB!!! It was solo home run that won the game in the top of the 13th. Holiday went 1 for 4 with 2 rbi's and Baisley went 3 for 4 with 2 runs scored. When a minor league team ties the game in the late innings, you can forget about going to bed on time because there's not much skill in the minor league level like in the pro level and it drove me crazy tonight because the game ended around 12:42 AM in the morning and this game started at 7:05 PM.

Triple A

The Scranton/Wilkes-Barre Yankees beat the Charlotte Knights by a score of 5-1. Starting for Scranton was Steven White and he gave up no runs on 3 hits in 6.2 innings of work for the win. Replacing White in the 7th inning was Billy Traber and he gave up 1 earned run on 2 hits in 1.1 innings. Scott Patterson pitched the 9th inning and gave up no runs on 2 hits. The hitting stars of the game for Scranton were center fielder Brett Gardner, right-fielder Gregory Porter and catcher Chris Stewart. Gardner went 1 for 3 with 2 runs scored. Porter went 2 for 3 with 1 run scored and 1 rbi along with a home run BOMB. Stewart went 2 for 3 with 1 run scored and is batting .304 on the year.

Double A

Starting for Scranton was Ian Kennedy and he pitched a great game giving up no runs on 1 hit in 7.1 innings along with 8 strike outs for the win. Kennedy doesn't really belong in Triple A, it's all mental for him when he pitches for the big pro club. Replacing Kennedy was Heath Phillips and he pitched a scoreless 1.2 innings on 1 hit. The hitting stars of the game worth mentioning for Scranton were left-fielder Brett Gardner, center fielder Justin Christian and right fielder Matt Carson. Gardner went 1 for 4 with 1 run scored and 1 rbi. Christian went 1 for 4 with 1 rbi and Carson went 1 for 3 with 1 rbi.

Replacing Pendleton was Craig Heyer and he gave up 3 runs on 4 hits in 2.1 innings but 2 of the runs were unearned because of a throwing error by third baseman Brandon Laird. Heyer got the win. Following Heyer was Chace Vacek and he gave up 1 earned run on 3 hits in .2 of an inning. Jonathan Ortiz pitched the 9th inning for his 10th save of the year and gave up no runs on 1 hit and his era for the year now stands at 1.93. The hitting stars of the game for the RiverDogs were center fielder Abraham Almonte, second baseman Justin Snyder and first baseman Wady Rufino. Almonte went 1 for 4 with 1 run scored and 3 rbi's and went DEEEEP with a big, awesome, home, run, BOMB!! Snyder went 2 for 3 with 2 runs scored and Rufino went 1 for 3 with 1 run scored and 3 rbi's along with a gigantic, humongous, a pitcher's worst nightmare, home, run, MOOOOON shot!

The Scranton/Wilkes-Barre Yankees lost to Charlotte Knights by a score of 5-0. Starting for Scranton was Dan Giese and he gave up 1 earned run on 5 hits in 6 innings of work for the loss. His era for the year now stands at 1.38. Replacing Giese to start the 7th inning was David Robertson and he gave up 2 earned runs on 2 hits in 1.2 innings. Following Robertson was Steven Jackson and he gave up 2 earned runs on 1 hit in 1.1 innings. The hitting star of the game worth mentioning for Scranton was left-fielder Matt Carson who went 2 for 4.

The Trenton Thunder DOMINATE the Erie SeaWolves by a score of 9-5. The Thunder had 17 hits in this game. Starting for the Trenton Thunder was George Kontos and he gave up 3 earned runs on 5 hits in 5 innings of work along with, ready for this, 11 strike outs for the win. That's a lot of strike outs. Replacing Kontos to start the 6th inning was Michael Gardner and he gave up 1 earned run on 1 hit along with 3 strikeouts and 3 walks in 2 innings. Eric Wordekemper pitched the 8th and 9th inning for his 5th save of the year. He gave up 1 run on 3 hits but the run he gave up was unearned because of a fielding error by third baseman Chris Malec. The hitting stars of the game for Trenton were basically the whole team. Every batter got a hit and scored a run. The ones I'll choose to mention are first baseman Cody Ehlers, right fielder Jose Tabata and second baseman Kevin Russo. Ehlers went 1 for 4 with 1 run scored and 2 rbi's along with a big, juicy, I can't believe how far the ball went, home, run, BOMB! Tabata went 3 for 4 with 1 run scored and 1 rbi. Russo went 2 for 3 with 1 run scored and 1 rbi along with a huuuuuuuge, home, run, SHOT!

Wilkins Arias pitched a perfect 7th, 8th and 9th inning for the win along with 5 strikeouts. The hitting stars of the game for Tampa were right-fielder Andres Perez and left-fielder Tim Battle. Perez went 2 for 4 with 1 run scored and Battle went 2 for 4 with 1 run scored and 2 rbi's along with the game breaker, the game changer, walk, off, home, run, hurt your feelings type of shot, mean spirited, BAHHHHHHHMB!!!

Class A

The Charleston RiverDogs won a very close game over the Hickory Crawdads by a score of 5-4. Starting for the RiverDogs was Dellin Betances and he gave up 3 earned runs on 3 hits in 5.2 innings of work for the win. He walked 7 batters. Wilkins De La Rosa followed Betances and gave up no runs on no hits in 2.1 innings. Jonathan Ortiz pitched the 9th inning for his 9th save of the season giving up 1 earned run on 2 hits. Ortiz almost lost the game but a nice saving catch and throw by third baseman Brandon Laird to first baseman Wady Rufino foiled the Crawdads. The hitting stars of the game worth mentioning for the RiverDogs were center fielder Abraham Almonte and left-fielder Austin Krum. Almonte went 3 for 5 with 1 run scored and 1 rbi. Krum went 1 for 4 with 1 run scored and 3 rbi's along with a big, mean spirited, home, run, SHOT! This is the longest consecutive road win for the RiverDogs in 5 years which is 9 games.

Triple A

The Scranton/Wilkes-Barre Yankees brought the "real" big bats and beat the Durham Bulls by a score of 9-5. They brought the, "big" bats. Starting for Scranton was Kei Igawa and he gave up 4 earned runs on 5 hits in 7 innings of work for the win. Igawa struck out 8 batters. Replacing Igawa to start the 8th inning was Scott Strickland and he gave up 1 earned run on 4 hits in 2 innings. The hitting stars of the game worth mentioning for Scranton were centerfielder Brett Gardner, right fielder Jason Lane and shortstop Cody Ransom. Gardner went 2 for 3 with 2 runs scored and 1 rbi and is now batting .314 on the year. Lane went 1 for 3 with 2 runs scored and 5 big RRRR, BEE, EYES!!! along with a GRRRRAND slam! Ransom went 2 for 4 with 1 run scored and 2 rbi's along with a huge, big, most awesome, home, run, BOMB. I don't think it matters what Lane does because I don't see him being called up to the show.

Double A

The Trenton Thunder won a low scoring game over the Portland SeaDogs by a score of 3-2. Starting for the Trenton Thunder was Chase Wright and he gave up 2 earned runs on 5 hits in 6 innings of work for the no decision. Replacing Wright to start the 7th inning was Bo Hall and he pitched a perfect 2 innings along with 4 strike outs. Impressive. Zachary Kroenke pitched a 1 hit, scoreless 9th inning for the win. The hitting stars of the game for Trenton were shortstop Ramiro Pena, third baseman Chris Malec and catcher P.J. Pilittere. Pena went 2 for 4 with 1 run scored. Malec went 2 for 3 with 1 run scored and 1 rbi along with a big, home, run, BIZZOMB!! Pilittere went 2 for 5 with 1 rbi and he drove in Pena for the winning run in the bottom of the 9th. Yeah!

Replacing Nova to start the 7th inning was Grant Duff and he gave up no runs on 2 hits in 2 innings. Edgar Soto pitched the 9th inning and gave up 1 earned run on 2 hits. The hitting stars of the game for Tampa worth mentioning were short stop Eduardo Nunez, catcher Jose Gil, center fielder Seth Fortenberry, right-fielder Josue Calzado and left-fielder James Cooper. Nunez went 2 for 5 with 2 runs scored. Gil went 2 for 4 with 2 runs scored. Fortenberry went 2 for 3 with 2 runs scored and 3 "big" rbi's and Cooper went 1 for 3 with 2 rbi's. I know that's a lot of players to be hitting stars but you have to expect that when your team scores 9 runs.

Rufino went 2 for 4 with 1 run scored and Baisley went 2 for 4 with 1 run scored and 2 rbi's along with a towering, moon shoot, mean spirited, juicy, home, run, BOMB! This was the 7 straight road win for the RiverDogs.
