Blue Blooded Journo Power Poll is a weekly poll of all the BBJ bloggers. The rankings are compiled to form one composite list. Top two and bottom three remain the same. DC's destruction of the high-flying Galaxy moved them up 5 spots. Colorado dropped one to a season-low 11th.

Fantasy Soccer Bootroom is a weekly column devoted to the ins and outs of fantasy soccer, especially the game played on www.mfls.com, and the RevMFLS division. There were 3 scoreless games this week, and 8 shutouts altogether in 8 games, which generally makes for a low scoring week fantasywise. Teams that loaded up on the eastern [...]

Blue Blooded Journo Power Poll is a weekly poll of all the BBJ bloggers. The rankings are compiled to form one composite list. Must be vacation week, as I'm flying solo. RSL's 4 point week jumps them up 4 spots. Chicago drops to their lowest rank since week one. LA reaches a season high, as [...]

Fantasy Soccer Bootroom is a weekly column devoted to the ins and outs of fantasy soccer, especially the game played on www.mfls.com, and the RevMFLS division. Sometimes, the best moves in fantasy sports are the ones you don't make. I was in a pickle last week with several of my starters away on National Team duty: [...]

Blue Blooded Journo Power Poll is a weekly poll of all the BBJ bloggers. The rankings are compiled to form one composite list. Last week it was Houston with the big jump, this week it's DC. United has moved from 14th three weeks ago up to 7th. Of their five wins, three have been blowouts. [...]

What a great weekend, huh? I'm sure fans of some teams would disagree, but it just felt great to finally say goodbye to the seemingly endless off-season and say hello to the 2008 MLS season. Just in case you missed it. Here's what happenedβ¦

Well, I honestly didn't see this coming at all. Maybe it was lost in thorough coverage of the team (sarcasm), but I was under the impression Khano Smith would be there on opening night and Wells Thompson's injury wouldn't have kept him from missing the game, either. However, both will in fact be absent from the lineup on the 29th as the Revs host Houston to begin the MLS season as reported by the Boston Globe. I'm sure this was mentioned somewhere before, but it sure as heck wasn't repeated all that much. This will mark the second straight season the Revs will start undermanned and with excuses. This is definitely not what we Revs fans wanted to hear.

In this, the final edition of the CONCACAF Champions Cup, both participating MLS teams have once again succeeded in defeating their quarterfinal opponents and earning a spot in the semifinals. DC United and Houston Dynamo were able to defeat Harbour View of Jamaica and CSD Municipal of Guatemala, respectively. Neither team looked good at all during the first legs played last week, but both MLS teams were able to sort things out a bit and take care of business this week to earn a spot in the final four...

Ivan Gazidis, Don Garber's number two at MLS headquarters held an interesting conference call recently. In it, he went into how MLS is striving to follow the "EPL model" on it's way to legitimacy as a major sport in this country. While it may be a good idea to look at the most financially successful league in the world right now, it could also be a classic case of treating symptoms as causes. The only thing I found out of whack about his statements was this:

There was an article in the Sun Chronicle late last week by a writer named Mark Farella. Now, I don't read this paper because I live south of the Big Brother Line. However, I think this is the guy I've heard about as being a notorious soccer basher. Again, I'm not familiar with the guy and I don't have the slightest inking to go back and analyze the musings of the Patriots beat writer for a local rag. However, this article is so much fun on so many levels because it shows how those who engage in the football vs soccer feud often resort to petty insults...

It's 3:00 pm and once again, MLS & Co. underdelivers in terms of announcements. They advertised they would be announcing the 2008 Superliga groups and schedule in video form at 3:00, and they rolled out the video on time. Good job guys. The problem is that the video only announced the groups and some of the venues. The schedule part was missing. Fear not, there is a press release...

The response to the U-23's 1-1 Olympic qualifier draw with Cuba last night has been quite comical. If they aren't better than Panama and Honduras, do they really deserve to be one of the two teams representing the CONCACAF region? The consensus "fear" on the boards is that we will place second in the group and play Mexico in the ridiculous "do or die" semifinals" setup of this U-23 tournament. Why they are even bothering with a final and a third place game is beyond me...
