I urge all readers of this site to pay attention to the process and read up on the concept of the electoral college. First thing I'd like to say is that I'm not discouraging you from voting. If that makes you feel empowered then by all means do you. But, I will now say that too many people still don't get it. Votes, I would say used to mean something but now they mean less than ever from us, the people because it's the ones already in power who decide the winner. Athletes, just like music artists and actors do this. Stumping for politicians is something that should be left to politicians. When you undeservingly gather notoriety for a candidate and when the vast majority of the newly won supporters don't really know the issues, this shows a complete lack of responsibility on the part of the human billboard raising the attention. It is a joke to think that people will vote for someone because their favorite celebrity endorses them, but that is the real issue here. And, to use Greg Oden as an example, he did very little to convince me that it was ANYTHING BUT a single phone call that got him to support Barrack aside from the certain not so subtle shared attributes. I'm no racist and I certainly am not an advocate of the opposition of free speech for anyone who should choose to respond under either of those ideas. I am merely pointing out that Greg, as well as too many other people who are now famous for things that people who watch them can't do, has drawn a line in the sand of his political views as well as broadcasted it on the largest scale and it unfairly sways fans of these celebs. If you really want to back someone then learn the issues. If not all of the issues, then at the very least the ones that will affect you and people of your ilk i.e. your family, friends, community etc.. Do not make uninformed decisions if you don't have to. This is one case where we all have access to the answers to our questions via countless outlets so let us utilize them and make our own INFORMED decisions.
