Maybe this will be the year that Patrick Ewing finally returns to New York. Mike D'Antoni said Thursday that he would consider hiring the Knicks' Hall of Fame center as one of his assistant coaches.

As Mike D'Antoni is set to be introduced as the Knicks' new coach, Bulls owner Jerry Reinsdorf told The Chicago Tribune that the former Suns coach "misled" him in his talks with Chicago, saying he didn't want to coach the Knicks.

We New Yorker's love our ballers, It's hard to believe, but it's been eight years since the tragic death of NBA player Malik Sealy. Sealy was 30 on May 20, 2000 when he was on his way home from a birthday party for Timberwolves teammate Kevin Garnett and was killed by drunk driver heading the wrong way on the freeway.

So the recruitment of one of the NBA's brightest coaching minds was done with a tantalizing lure. Donnie Walsh couldn't sell the present to Mike D'Antoni, but because of the well-known Madison Square Garden resources, the future always has unlimited potential.

Mike D'Antoni now becomes the most important coaching hire the Knicks have made since Dave Checketts hired Pat Riley, and even Riley didn't have to clean up a mess like this, the biggest in the history of Madison Square Garden, the one left like some kind of oil spill on 33rd St
