Cardinals Update: Anquan Boldin Has Surgery

Arizona Cardinals WR Anquan Boldin underwent surgery Thursday evening to repair a sinus fracture. He is out for Week 5, but the team is hopeful he can return the week after. The doctor who performed the surgery said that a hockey player was playing 10 days after a similar procedure. WR Early Doucet a€¦

Bengals Team Update - Carson Palmer, Chris Henry

Carson Palmer practiced without limits Friday. "He did well. We'll see how he is in the morning," HC Marvin Lewis said. "If things continue as they have, I think all systems are go." Palmer is listed as questionable for Week 5 on Friday's injury report. All signs point to Cincinnati Bengals' fourth-ya€¦

Week 5 Fantasy Football Wide Receiver Rankings

1. Larry Fitzgerald ( Arizona Cardinals) vs. Buffalo - the Cardinals have a tough matchup against the bills defense which is ranked sixth against the pass this week. But with Anquan Boldin probably sidelined this week Kurt Warner will be looking Fitzgerald's way more often than usual. With that being said Larry is our number one wide receiver this week. He's averaging 103 yards receiving this year, and we expect him to go over 100 yard mark once again this week with at least a touchdown

2. Terrell Owens ( Dallas Cowboys) vs. Cincinnati - Owens had seven catches for 71 yards and a touchdown last week against Washington. That easily could have been higher considering the Cowboys threw to TO 17 times. Cincinnati's secondary will not be able to handle TO and Romo this week, and the two should be back in sync for a big game against the Bengals. Owens should easily approach the 100 yard mark as this week settling in taround 90 to 95 yards. He should find his way into the end zone at least once as well.

3. Brandon Marshall ( Denver Broncos) vs. Tampa Bay - Marshall had a sub-par game last week (for his standards) "only" having 77 receiving yards, but did get into the end zone. Greg Jennings just got finished rolling up 109 yards and two touchdowns against the Buccaneers secondary. Jay Cutler will be looking his way early and often in this game. There is no reason to think he won't approach the 100 yard mark and find his way to pay dirt for the fourth straight game.

Week 5 Fantasy Football Quarterback Rankings

1. Tony Romo ( Dallas Cowboys) vs. Cincinnati - Romo and the Cowboys had a rough game against the Skins last week. He still threw for 300 yards and three touchdowns, but the offense just didn't seem in sync. What a better tonic than Cincinnati coming to town this week. The Bengals defense will not be able to match up with any of Romo's receivers or running backs. He should put up close to 300 yards in the air and two touchdowns this week.

2. Drew Brees ( New Orleans Saints) vs. Minnesota - Drew Brees should have no problem shredding and exploiting a miserable passing defense. And that's exactly what the Vikings have. Minnesota is good against the rush, but Drew is arguably the best quarterback in the league right now. Brees will have around 300 yards passing and a couple touchdowns this week, but the fact that Minnesota will be able to run on the Saints defense, may limit his chances to really get going.

3. Jay Cutler ( Denver Broncos) vs. Tampa Bay - Cutler had some problems last week against the Kansas City Chiefs throwing 2 picks. But he did throw for 361 yards and one touchdown. He is a top option every week, and even though Tampa Bay has a good defense, they are ranked 21st against the pass. After a tough road loss, the Broncos come home and Cutler should continue his great play this week throwing for 275 yards and two touchdowns

Week 5 Fantasy Football Running Back Rankings

1. Matt Forte ( Chicago Bears) @ Detroit - Some people may be surprised by our number one running back this week. But why? Detroit has probably the worst rushing defense in the NFL. And Matt Forte touches the ball about 25 times a game. Any running back that gets that many touches, that goes up against the Lions, has to be ranked very high. Look for the rookie to shine on the fast track in Detroit.

2. Adrian Peterson ( Minnesota Vikings) @ New Orleans - the Monday night matchup between the Saints and the Vikings will be a fantasy dream. Minnesota will run Peterson in as much as possible. To keep Drew Brees and the Saints offense from picking apart the Vikings brutal secondary. He ran for two touchdowns against a good Titans defense last week. The Saints have been giving up over 120 yards per game on the ground, and look for Peterson to have about the same.

3. Marion Barber ( Dallas Cowboys) vs. Cincinnati - after Barber only got 10 touches last week, one needs to assume he will get back to his 20 to 25 this week against Cincinnati. The Bengals play the no defense defense, And the barbarian will take full advantage. He could be ranked higher but if this game gets out of hand early, Felix Jones will come in and take some carries from him. But this won't happen until Marion gets about 110 yards and probably two scores.

The Daily Brian Westbrook Update

Philadelphia Eagles RB Brian Westbook was limited in practice for a second straight day, but continues to make progress, according to HC Andy Reid. "He looked real good out there today," Reid said. "We're just being smart with it and adding something every day."

But his brother doesn't think he will play

Redskins CB Byron Westbrook said after talking with Eagles RB Brian Westbrook that he doesn't think Brian will play this Sunday in their Week 5 contest. "I don't think he'll play," Byron Westbrook said. "The ankle injury is more serious than what the Eagles put out. You know how Andy Reid is about injuries and giving out information."

Texans Team Updates - Ahman Green May Return In Week 5

Texans RB Ahman Green could see his first action since the first play of preseason. Green would backup RB Steve Slaton against the Colts on Sunday. "He's looked good," coach Gary Kubiak said of Green. "He's better than he was last week. He practiced today. Last week, he practiced strictly with the sa€¦

Jeff Garcia Moved Up Behind Brian Griese

Bucs QB Jeff Garcia will likely be bumped up to the No. 2 quarterback after spending the last three weeks inactive and No. 3 on the depth chart. Garcia took some reps with the No. 1 offense and, according to QB coach Greg Olson, had increased reps overall. HC Jon Gruden has expressed his displeasurea€¦

Bengals Injury Updates - Carson Palmer

Bengals QB Carson Palmer did not participate in passing drills Thursday morning with the rest of the team. He was in pads with his helmet on, but watched as QBs Ryan Fitzpatrick and Jordan Palmer. Palmer went to the side and threw at a distance of about 10 yards with Nick Cosgray, a member of the Bea€¦

Brian Westbrook "Getting Better Every Day"

The Philadelphia Eagles got positive news regarding RB Brian Westbrook today. Westbrook participated in the team's morning walk-through and at least some drills in the afternoon session on Wednesday. "I'm definitely encouraged. I've gotten better every day," Westbrook said. "The injury is another week older, another week of rehab for me. By the time Sunday comes around, I'm definitely more optimistic than I was last week."

Reid said that Westbrook will be evaluated on a day-to-day basis.

"It was good to have him back out there," Reid said. "He's trying like crazy to get himself back out on the field, and that's important."

In warmups just before Sunday's game, Westbrook and training staff determined he did not have the mobility necessary to play against the Bears.

New York Jets First Quarter Review

After the first four games of the season and what we've learned so far about the New York Jets. It's still a little too early to tell. They beat two teams they should have beaten and they lost to two teams they should have lost to. Let's start off in week one. They all been there 2008 season with a road trip to the Miami Dolphins. Facing their former quarterback on the road, division game, new quarterback. That is a tough game for anybody. Week two came around and the Jets opened their home season with the Patriots. They probably should have beaten the Pats, especially with Brady out for the year, but the Jets offense just still was not on the same page. Then in week three they went and visited the Chargers on Monday night. San Diego just came off of two heartbreaking losses in the first two weeks. Not one team in the NFL could have beaten the Chargers that night. It just so happens the Bolts got to take their frustrations out on the Jets. Then in week four, Favre showed us a glimpse of what the offense can do. I'm not going to say this will be a weekly occurrence, but it was sure as hell nice to see.

The Jets had a week five by which is a perfect time for them to get it together. They come back next week against Cincinnati. After that they face of the Raiders and the Chiefs, they should be able to put together a few wins in a row here.

I'm gonna position by position and rank out the players so far in the first quarter of the season.

Quarterbacks - A - you have to give Favre an A. it's hard to argue with somebody that has 12 touchdown passes to 4 interceptions. Even though six of those came in one game those are still in his first four games stats. The more and more Brett works with this offense the better and better it will get. he already has 935 yards through the air.

Week 5 Fantasy Football Prep

What a wild week 4 in the NFL. In the battle of the almost 40 year old quarterbacks, Kurt Warner and Brett Favre put on an aerial show at the Meadowlands. Warner threw for 472 yards and two touchdowns. Unfortunately he was sacked five times, had four fumbles, and was picked off three times. Favre on the other hand had six touchdown passes, 289 yards passing, and threw one interception on what many thought should have been a free play. Drew Brees continues to be the front runner for the league MVP with another 350 yard plus game. He added another three touchdowns as the Saints took care of the 49ers last week. Matt Schaub had a good game in a loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars, passing for over 300 yards and also having three touchdowns. Tony Romo had and other a 300 yard passing day, tying Troy Aikman for the most career 300 passing days for the Dallas Cowboys with 13. Jake Delhomme scratched at thee 300 yard mark with 294 yards and also throwing for two touchdowns.

Welcome back to the world Mr. Larry Johnson of the Kansas City Chiefs. After he complained about not touching the ball enough, he runs the free all over the Denver Broncos for 198 yards and two touchdowns on 28 attempts. Clinton Portis racked up 121 yards on the Cowboys defense this week in the win at Dallas. Portis is having a very nice season thus far and will only improve. Steven Jackson also made his way back to Earth, racking up 188 total yards and a touchdown. LT got off to a slow start against the Oakland but ended the game with 106 yards on the ground with two touchdowns. Earnest Graham did his part in a victory over the Packers by rushing for 111 yards and a score. Perennial top five back Frank Gore had a good day with yardage getting 113, but failed to reach the end zone against the Saints. There are many good running back match ups as this week. Matt Forte gets to play the Lions and their terrible rush defense. Marion Barber should bounce back this week against the Bengals. Adrian Peterson should be able to run free against the Saints defense with Detroit following next week. And the Colts will try to get their rushing defense to together with a rookie Steve Slaton up next.

New York Jets Notes and Nuggets

Coach Mangini backed Eric Smith, who was fined $50,000 and suspended for a game by the NFL for his helmet-to-helmet hit on Cardinals receiver Anquan Boldin Sunday. He said the play happened so quickly, it seemed difficult to avoid the contact that occurred.

"I definitely support the commissioner's initiative to protect the players and to do everything possible to promote player safety," Mangini said. "But Eric Smith is a good person, and he'd never do anything intentionally to harm somebody else."

"It's difficult because both safeties were converging. You don't know necessarily who's going to get there first. You're not sure where the receiver is going to end up catching the ball. Is he going to jump in the air? Is he going to catch it on his feet? Is he going to turn? You're obviously trying to break up the play. That's the first objective."

Carson Palmer Questionable For Week 5

Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Carson Palmer said this morning that whether he plays Sunday at Dallas has yet to be determined. "Nothing's changed. Like I said last week, I prepare. I'm expecting to play, like I said," Palmer said this morning. "I'll be a little bit limited in practice but getting as many reps as I can and looks like it'll come down to a decision later on in the week."

Terrell Owens Clears The Air Regarding Frustrations

Dallas Cowboys receiver Terrell Owens is not mad about the offense and he is not upset with quarterback Tony Romo. Owens said he never had a conversation with Romo about his role in the offense. "I have not," Owens said when asked if voiced his displeasure with Romo after the 26-24 loss to the Redskins.

Owens said his postgame comments about needing to be involved more in the offense were blown out of proportion and more a product of his frustration in the Cowboys loss than any displeasure about the Cowboys offense. "It's a matter of being frustrated with the loss," Owens said. "It had nothing to do with the offense."
