Today's NASCAR event was a weird race at a weird track. For all the mid-race theatrics, Kasey Kahne finished the race where he started it...out front. The racing in 2008 may be a bit uneven at times, but it's me than made up for with the strange tangle of story lines....

BREAKING NEWS: A wreck in practice may have a dramatic effect on the race outcome tomorrow. I wasn't picking that guy anyway. Starting position is important here and the top 10 looks a lot different from the top 10 in points. Who will win at the "Bermuda Triangle?" Will it be Jeff Gordon, Denny Hamlin, Jimmie Johnson, Bobby Labonte or Kurt Busch who've won here before? Will it be qualifying record holder Kasey Kahne- who has the pole? What about Carl Edwards, Kyle Busch, or Junior?

I look for someone different....

There's nothing quite like Pocono with flat straightaways that vary after each turn. Three active drivers have enjoyed season sweeps at Pocono.

What is it about this track?

Without meaning to, the greatest change agent in the driver rankings is a guy who isn't it: Elliott Sadler's wreck Sunday has definitely had it's effect in where the drivers stand this week.

Some will get a "pass" thanks to their overall accomplishments, somewhat because of a continuing track record of bad luck, others fall out.

This is the first in a series about Southern Oregon Speedway's hottest driver- 17-year-old Preston Jones- points leader for the 2008 season in the "Super 4" class at the 1/3 mile dirt track. It takes more than just a fast car to be a winner, and the Jones family knows it. We'll keep you up to date and tell you more about this rising star as he blazes Preston's trail on the road to glory.

You could also call this race the "Demolition Derby at Dover" or "Dover Domination" for NASCAR's newest villain- Kyle Busch.

He didn't tame the monster mile, he wrestled it down and made it cry "Uncle."

Some drivers OWN certian tracks. Dover is one of those weird places where a couple of TEAMS own it. One of them is an empire that's look to bounce back. One of this team's drivers will win tomorrow's race at the "Monster Mile."

There's never a dull moment in NASCAR and I'm looking at eating my words on the status of Stewart, my defense of NASCAR and Denny Hamlin and even my opinion of Kevin Harvick is begin revisited as he has some great advice for Kyle Busch.

Next up Is the race that is NASCAR's answer to a roller coaster ride. Given the concrete surface and distance, this race will have an entirely different feel than Lowe's. This Northeast track has a history and a long list of winners unlike any other.

The field is tight boys and girls and the changes in the top 10 reflect. Some drivers went out that are ordinarily Top 10 studs, and a couple of dark horses are coming on strong! What you have to love about this season is that you never really know how it's going to shake out from one week to the next.

It started out a snoozer, but the Coke 600 is a marathon and we got plenty of holiday fireworks as the race went on. Lowe's Motor Speedway may be Jimmie Johnson's house, but there's no doubt that with this win and the all-star victory- Kasey Kahne rents out a floor from the "48."

NASCAR's marathon is on tap this week. Be sure to fill up on Starbucks or Amp and prepare to see a different kind of race where fuel mileage strategy, endurance and focus play a part.

Driver fortunes are swaying like trees at Homestead. In this closely contested season, there may be as many as 20 guys who COULD make a run at it.

How wild to think that were it not for the fans, Kasey Kahne would have been watching the race on the tube with the rest of us.

I think it's going to be someone who excels in short runs, who has the experience in knowledgfe that comes with winning at Lowe's Motor Speedway and has the gear to get it done.
