Brohm no threat to Rodgers

Aaron Rodgers says he doesn't feel any pressure from Brian Brohm, the rookie quarterback selected in the second round of the NFL draft in April.

Rodgers, who already has the unenviable task of following retired three-time MVP Brett Favre, said Packers coach Mike McCarthy and general manager Ted Thompson have voiced their confidence in him, and even teammates, such as receiver Donald Driver, can't help but interject their opinion.

"Mike said I'm the guy, Ted said I'm the guy, Donald thinks I'm the guy ..." Rodgers said.

"You the guy!" Driver shouted as he walked by.

Rodgers said he thinks Brohm has picked up the offense pretty well so far.

Brohm said it has been much different from being a rookie in minicamp to the first organized team activities with the veterans.

"The game's faster, the defense is faster, everything's moving around a lot quicker, and you get to see how the plays are supposed to be run," he said.

I know there has been a lot of speculation about what drafting Brohm in implies when it comes to Aaron Rodgers.

I don't see it at all. I really like Rodgers and I think he is handling all the naysayers and "speculation" very well.

I like Brohm as well, I think he has great potential. I think we do need a good backup, but this really is Rodgers time to shine. He recently said in an interview, "I've been waiting my whole life for this"

No doubt! I think he's going to be great.

Brett Favre now officially on retired list

The Green Bay Packers have placed quarterback Brett Favre on the NFL's reserve/retired list, along with waiving three players, to reduce the number of players counting against the Green Bay active roster to 68 players on active status. The transactions were announced Friday by Executive Vice President, General Manager and Director of Football Operations Ted Thompson

"The NFL does not require a letter for a player to be placed in a reserve/retired status. Brett has announced his retirement publicly and this is simply a personnel transaction made to develop a roster opportunity for the Packers."

There ya go....for now :)

Get your "Yankees Curse" Ortiz Jersey!!

You'll have until April 24th to bid on the one and only "Yankee curse" Ortiz jersey...lol!

at $40,319.18 as of right now....and climbing.

Well, something good will come of all the drama since the proceeds will benefit the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute/Jimmy Fund.

I will have to pass on the bidding, as I am neither a Yankee, nor Red Sox fan....and it's a bit out of my price range. :)

So, I have to ask...what happens if a Red Sox fan buys it and wears it to every Yankee game? lmao!

Should be interesting to see what this goes for!

Entire Cardinal roster wear # 42 as tribute to Jackie Robinson

The entire Cardinals team donned No. 42 jerseys in honor of Robinson, wearing the number that has been retired across baseball for one of the game's greatest figures. For the visiting Brewers, Prince Fielder was designated as the lone wearer of No. 42.

I'm watching the Brewers/Cardinal game and realize everyone is wearing # 42...then I realize why. lol

Just thought that was pretty cool. :)

Yankees may press charges for "cursed jersey" burial

An unlikely Messiah of Red Sox Nation is scoffing at reports the Yankees may pursue criminal charges against him for cementing a David Ortiz jersey he "cursed" into their new $1.3 billion stadium

(cont'd)

What the hell?! That's even stupider than spending the money to dig it up.

Don't get me wrong, I kind of get why they dug it up...but criminal charges?? lol

You'd think they would be thankful they finally got some attention.....

Giants' Keiichi Yabu hurts eyes while exercising.

Baseball lore is replete with stories of strange injuries and odd trips to the disabled list, but it's hard to top what Giants' Keiichi Yabu did to himself Saturday.

Yabu sustained scratches to both corneas when an exercise band snapped off and struck him in the face.

"The right-hander travels with a stretching device that hooks onto the shelf of his locker. He was doing arm exercises when the hook snapped loose. "The band came right back at him," Bochy deadpanned"

Yabu takes the bands with him on the road and are not part of the Giants' workout program. (I like the clarification on that! lol)

Okay. I feel a little guilty for laughing....owww!

News states he will be fine :)

Bowa suspended 3 games after wild argument

LOS ANGELES (AP) - Dodgers third-base coach Larry Bowa was suspended for three games and fined by the commissioner's office Wednesday following a wild argument.

Bowa was ejected from Tuesday night's game against San Francisco in the sixth inning by umpire Ed Montague, who had told him to keep within the boundaries of the coaching box.

Bob Watson, baseball's vice president in charge of discipline, cited Bowa for "inappropriate and aggressive conduct," which included making contact with Montague several times.

Major League Baseball announced in late February that starting this year, first- and third-base coaches must not cross the lines toward home plate or the field until batted balls pass them. Only then can they take up other spots to guide runners.

In November, general managers decided big league base coaches must wear protective headgear this year, starting with exhibition games.

Double-A first base coach Mike Coolbaugh was killed by a line drive to the neck last season.

Third-base coaches routinely stand much closer to the plate than the lines permit, trying to get a better look at where outfielders are positioned.

"I did it all spring, nobody said a word," Bowa said after the game. "I did it yesterday, nobody said a word. It's impossible to coach third and stay in the box with a runner at second."

Montague said it was "probably one of the dumbest ejections he's had."

Now thats the way to start off the season...
