Another May return for a popular Yankee?

It's now the month of May, the New York Yankees are struggling (although not as bad as last year), so does that mean a blast from the past be returning for another stint? It was the month of May last year, when Roger Clemens showed up at Yankees stadium and announced to a sold out crowd that he was putting the pinstripes back on. We all saw how "good" that worked out for the team. Could Hank Steinbrenner be considering a similar move this year? Don't worry it won't be Clemens again. So who could it be?

Fastlinks

Here is today's edition of the Fastlinks. Today we've got an update on Brandon Inge and how he likes to catch, got some entertaining photos of some hot Arizona chicks with the Phanatic, pictures of the new Yankees Stadium, and then a "happy" fantasy baseball recap. So let's not waste any more time and get into it.

Updating oft-injured pitchers

Don't know why I am wasting time on these two pitchers, but here are some injury updates for the New York Mets Orlando "El Duque" Hernandez and St. Louis Cardinals Mark Mulder. Mulder has had a setback in his rehab assignments, while Hernandez has finally taken the boot off.

When Posada returns is Giambi out?

It's definitely a possibility. Jon Heyman of cnnsi.com speculates (pure speculation), that when New York Yankees catcher Jorge Posada returns, 1B Jason Giambi would become a candidate for release. There would obviously be a few things that have to happen for this to take place thou.

Griffey heading home to Seattle?

Are the Seattle Mariners close to acquiring former center fielder Ken Griffey Jr? Its been speculated that the Cincinnati Reds are opening to trading the future hall-of-famer, but the question has been what teams would be interested. Seattle team president Chuck Armstrong has made his teams interest known in an interview with the USA Today, and its set off a firestorm of speculation that a deal is close. Sorry to burst Mariners' fans bubbles but it's not about to happen, well at least immediately.

Hardhitters

Alright here goes your NFL Hardhitters. Tonight we got a few good articles for ya to check out. First one deals with the Philadelphia Eagles and the questions that follow their draft, Marvin Harrison and Sal Paolantonio feud, Chargers minicamp update, and then a pretty funny look at who may have robbed Steelers rookie RB Rashard Mendenhall.

PM Fastlinks

Here's the night edition of the Fastlinks. Found another couple good reads for you to check out. These include an article by a Cardinals fan about why the Cubbies suck, Manny Ramirez wearing an electronic mouthguard, a look at the Yankees and the teams lack of patience this season, and finally an article about baseball still being played the way it was back in the late 1800's.

The Rhodes back to Indy

It looks like Dominic Rhodes is heading back home to Indianapolis. Adam Schefter of the NFL Network, says the Indianapolis Colts and Rhodes should come to an agreement sometime soon. If a deal is reached, he'd be the primary back-up to Joseph Addai. This arrangement could only happen thou thanks to the Oakland Raiders, holding to their word. Who thought that would ever happen?

Phillies prospect's career in jeopardy

Philadelphia Phillies' pitcher Scott Mathieson's career may be over before it fully gets started. The 24-year old prospect is contemplating a second Tommy John surgery. In the 2006 season, Mathieson made his debut at Citizens Bank Park and just like that Phillies fans had high hopes like Harry Kalas would say. His numbers weren't outstanding, actually not even that good, but he had moments where the fans thought he could be something special. But now, his career is in jeopardy.

AM Fastlinks

While I try to figure out what I want to write, here's a few links to some of the baseball things I've read this morning. They include articles about the Red Sox fan killed in NH, a baseball recap from yesterday, Ozzie Guillen and his blow up toys, and a look at Robinson Cano today and last season.

Engram latest to want a new contract

Seattle Seahawks wide receiver, Bobby Engram, is the latest NFL player to want a new contract. Engram is currently making $1.7 million for the 2007, while fellow WR Deion Branch is making $3.5 mil and going to miss part of the 2008 season with an ACL injury. Engram led the 'Hawks last year with 94 catches, 1147 yards and 6 touchdowns. I'd say numbers like that are worth some more money, especially when 2 receivers on the team make almost double the money, but Engram had almost double their catches. Engram hasn't made a big stink yet, but that could change soon….

With Jones out, does Inge now have a role?

The Detroit Tigers decided to designate left fielder Jacque Jones for assignment, effectively ending his time with the team, even with the $3 million still owed to him this season. To replace Jones on the roster, minor league outfielder Matt Joyce was called up from AAA-Toledo. According to manager, Jim Leyland, Joyce will spend time in both left and right. So where does, undefined position, Brandon Inge stand with the team?

Turnbow-ing out of Milwaukee?

Could Derrick Turnbow be on his way out of Milwaukee? According to the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel, it could be happening soon. The paper speculates that the Brewers are considering all options, which could include a demotion to the minor leagues or an outright release.

Injuries: Young and done

Injuries have stricken a few of the game's young players that have bright futures. Colorado Rockies Troy Tulowitzki and New York Yankees Philip Hughes will be seeing extended time on the disabled list. Lets look at those injuries.

Rollins return delayed.

Unfortunately for the Philadelphia Phillies and their fans, the return of Jimmy Rollins will most likely be delayed. Many were expecting JRoll to rejoin the team in Arizona, on May 5th his first day of eligibility after being on the disabled list. He experienced a setback thou and his minor league rehab assignment has been pushed back, indefinitely.
