After the jump, Phillip Barnett of Talkhoops.net fame explains why the Cleveland Cavaliers are the NBA's most intriguing team thanks to the idea of Supply and Demand. The media loves drama and thanks to a lack of talent around him, LeBron James should put up stellar numbers, which will create the demand.

Screw "redemption." Screw "Redeem Team." And screw all of the hype. This was about patriotism and winning for your country. This was the spirit of the Olympic games in a world of commercialism, marketing, and self-image. No, these guys aren't soldiers. And no, this isn't the same or even close to what the U.S. soldiers around the world are doing as they truly serve this country. But you have to be able to put this in perspective.

On the eve of the USA vs. Argentina Olympic semi-final rematch, we as basketball fans really have to look at what these Olympics can potentially mean for the basketball community at large. Unlike 1992, when the U.S. National Team completely obliterated any other team that dared to step in between the 92x50 parameters of execution and dominance, the 2008 Olympics have had a different tone as far as basketball is concerned. Instead of the Dream Team we have the less impressive Redeem Team, a collection of guys who have set out to bring the prominence there once was back to the states and to take their dignity back from the world. In the wake of these semifinal match-ups, considering the way that the U.S. team has played despite their obvious weaknesses, we have to ponder two rudimentary questions: Why is this U.S. team playing so well this year as opposed to recent world competitions dating back to the 2004 Olympic Games? And, is the international gap as close as we think it is?

The WBC. Wait, isn't that the World Baseball Classic? Isn't that the tournament thrown together a few years ago to decide who was the best country for baseball? We probably can't use the acronym "WBC" for this. But what else could you call this thing? It's going to be the World Basketball Championship at stake. There will actually be a NBA World Champion instead of a team that calls itself the world champion because they beat 28 other U.S. residents and one team from Toronto, Canada. Maybe we'll just call it the NBA World Championship? I haven't come up with it yet. But believe that this is in the works.

With so many trade rumors involving Jason Kidd existing right now, the real question isn't where is Jason Kidd going but rather is he going anywhere at all? There aren't a lot of deals that make a lot of sense outside the world of ESPN.com's trade machine. With Nets' decision maker, Rod Thorn, having limited options in giving Kidd what he wants, it's quite unlikely that Kidd will be on the move anywhere. Cory Elfrink breaks down the possible destinations and why they aren't feasible.
