Holy crap! UFC legend charged with gang rape!

Holy moly! This is worse news for the MMA community than Rampage Jackson playing Grand Theft Auto or even Devin Cole being accused of being White Mike Tyson!

According to TMZ, Joe Son, the cult MMA hero and Austin Powers actor who participated in UFC 4 (and put up a good fight before losing to Keith Hackney), has been charged with a brutal gang rape.

Andrew Bynum will break your heart (if you think he's the missing piece)

I think you're crazy if you think Andrew Bynum's presence automatically make the Los Angeles Lakers the favorites to win the title. Yeah, Bynum's big and bad, but this guy's coming off major knee surgery and has played six playoff games his whole career. If you're counting on a 20-year old that has played 11 minutes a game and averaged 4 points in those six playoff games to take you to the promised land, then you're out of your mind.

Find out why I think the Lakers will fall short of title aspirations if they don't address the real reason they didn't win it all last year.

Derrick Rose will break your heart (if you think he's the future at PG)

I don't know why the Chicago Bulls and its fans are putting so much of their heart at stake over Derrick Rose being the messiah of the Chicago Bulls. He's a good player, and can be a very good one, but I don't think he's the answer at the point guard position.

Find out why I think the Bulls will be setting themselves up for disapointment if they count on Rose developing into their floor general.

Yardbarker - Dividing and conquering to make the big bucks

Call Yardbarker the Conquistadors of Sports Community Networks. If you haven't noticed lately, Yardbarker has pit together two rival factions of the sports video gaming industry to create bloodshed and make the big advertising bucks.

Check out the photographic evidence of Yardbarker running ads from both NBA Live 09 and NBA 2K9 in the identical spots during the same running period after the jump.

Chad Dawson will tell Antonio Tarver "You too old!"

As Antonio Tarver prepares for his title defense against "Bad" Chad Dawson, he must be thinking one thing : Roy Jones, Jr. Not the Roy Jones that he destroyed, but the Roy Jones that beat him. Tarver could also be seeing a prettier, younger version of himself.

When he was a young man, Antonio Tarver was a hell of a fighter, combining fast hands, feet, reflexes and power. Tarver is still a good fighter, but with age comes slower speed and weaker endurance to punch hard in the later rounds. Chad Dawson, the young lion of the light heavyweight division, carries some of the same qualities that made Tarver a star.

Find out why we think the younger incarnation of Tarver will make a young man's statement against the old in their light heavyweight title fight on Saturday.

Samuel Peter will run over Vitali Klitschko like Warren Sapp kills quarterbacks

If you want an athletic comparison to WBC heavyweight champion Samuel Peter, look no further than NFL legend and Dancing With The Stars competitor Warren Sapp. Both are around the same height (in the 6-0, 6-1 range) with girth and very light feet for men their size. (Check out Warren Sapp showing off some of his dance moves to his fellow Inside the NFL hosts here).

Find out why we think the Warren Sapp of boxing will kill the old "emeritus" champion Vitali Klitschko in their bout on Saturday.

The Rudy Fernandez Preseason Scouting Report

Fans have been waiting for Rudy Fernandez to come over to the NBA from Spain for a while. Whether seeing him play on his ACB club DKV Joventut or the Spanish national team, two things were obvious : Rudy could play; and he had flair.

In his NBA preseason debut against the Sacramento Kings, both the skills and flair carried over from his overseas experience. Rudy put on a scintillating display of scoring and passing, and finished with 6 points and 5 assists in the Portland Trail Blazers' 110-81 blowout of the Kings.

As fantastic as Rudy looked, can he perform like that in the regular season? What adjustments must he make in order to produce when the games count?

We take a look down low.

Ron Artest Houston Rockets debut highlights

Check out Ron Artest displaying his inside-outside prowess en route to 15 points, 6 rebounds and 2 assists in his long-awaited Houston Rockets debut. Houston beat the Memphis Grizzlies 96-93.

The Greg Oden Preseason Scouting Report

Big things were expected of Greg Oden when he was drafted by the Portland Trail Blazers with the No. 1 overall pick in the 2007 NBA Draft, but he missed the entire season due to microfracture knee surgery. After a promising summer league, the news was a big letdown to NBA observers and fans, but Oden put in his hard work to rehabilitate his body, and is back.

In his NBA preseason debut against the Sacramento Kings, Oden dunked, rebounded, passed and blocked shots on his way to 13 points, 5 rebounds, 2 assists and 2 blocks in 20 minutes of action in Portland's 110-81 blowout win.

Here's my take on Oden's preseason debut and what's in store for him in his rookie season.

Wanna become filthy rich like Dana White? Offer cheap entertainment!

Apparently, the UFC is making even more money during bad economic times. Dana White and Lorenzo Fertitta say that the reason they get even more sales is that in tough times, people need entertainment to soothe their souls, and watching UFC on pay-per-view is a cheap form of entertainment.

Watch what White and Fertitta have to say after the jump and find out why I only half agree with them.

Han Ji Hye, Mysteriously Appealing Cutie

I can't put a finger on what it is, but this Han Ji Hye definitely has some serious appeal. There are girls hotter than her, but not many as magnetizing.

Beatdowns! Hype : Will Samuel Peter kick Vitali Klitschko's butt into retirement?

After an injury hiatus of almost four years, WBC "Champion Emeritus" Vitali Klitschko returns to the ring to claim his past glory against Nigerian Nightmare Samuel Peter.

Klitschko is old (37), creaky and tall (6-7); Peter is young (28), strong and squat (6-0). The common denominator is that both of the fighters have massive power, and are highly regarded in the heavyweight division.

Assuming Klitschko doesn't pull a back muscle getting out of bed between now and fight time, expect a great fight to be delivered to us. Klitschko has his family agenda of holding heavyweight titles simultaneously with his brother. Peter and many boxing fans on the other hand, want nothing but a demolition of Klitschko that would put the heavyweight division one step closer to unification.

Who will get the last laugh?

Beatdowns! Hype : Can Chad Dawson smack old, big-mouthed Antonio Tarver?

Showtime is really going crazy with the "I Am a Fighter" video series here. After doing a bunch of these videos for MMA fighters, including Kimbo Slice, Gina Carano and Jake Shields, they have now done it for Antonio Tarver and Chad Dawson, who will fight on Saturday October 11 at 9 PM ET for Tarver's IBF/IBO light heavyweight titles.

I like what Showtime is doing with the promotion though, as it's about time the classic fight sport of boxing gets some hip, easily digestible marketing treatment for the younger fans.
