Gervonta Davis (29-0, 27 KOs) has been in the spotlight as much for his personal life as he has been for his ability in the ring, even spending time in jail during 2023. On April 22, 2023, “Tank” faced Ryan Garcia in what appeared to be his toughest test thus far. Garcia started more aggressively, but after Davis knocked him down in round two, there was only one winner, with “Tank” delivering a beautifully timed body shot in round seven to win by TKO.
Davis scored one of his most memorable wins against Mexican boxer Léo Santa Cruz in October 2020. It was a competitive fight, with “Tank” in front of all three judges’ scorecards at the time of stoppage in the sixth round. The contest ended when Davis caught his opponent with a vicious, sharp left uppercut.
Back in 2017, Davis went up against unbeaten British boxer Liam Walsh. The opening two rounds were cagey before “Tank” stepped his foot on the gas and dropped Walsh after landing accurate hooks. Davis showed his class as a finisher as he pounced on Walsh, forcing referee Michael Alexander to stop the fight, awarding the American the victory by third-round TKO.
On January 14, 2017, a historic moment occurred in the career of Gervonta “Tank” Davis as he won the IBF super-featherweight title — his first world title against Puerto Rican José Pedraza. Davis stopped his opponent in round seven by TKO. The American fighter began to dominate and landed a beautifully timed right hook, which sealed the win.
Rolando “Rolly” Romero was boxing well against Davis on May 28, 2022, forcing the action. “Tank” stayed patient, boxing diligently and seized on an opportunity in round six, landing a left hand that caught Romero and sent him crashing face-first into the canvas. Moments later – the fight was waved off, ensuring “Tank” successfully defended his WBA (Regular) lightweight title.
