Adrien Broner Should Think Retirement
Joe Camporeale-USA TODAY Sports

Adrien ‘The Problem’ Broner loss a unanimous decision to Blair Cobbs in a welterweight bout at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Hollywood, Florida. The four-division champion with titles in the super featherweight, lightweight, light welterweight and welterweight weight classes looks like he’s at the end of his career.

Coming off of a almost a full year of inactivity, that’s clearly going against the ageing former champ. Broner looked like a shell of himself, he looked like a shot fighter who got a beat down against a fighter that he would have had his way with in his prime. In the second round, Cobbs knocked down Broner with a left hook. That punch knocked his tooth out as well.  Things didn’t get better for Broner as Cobbs just control every aspect of the fight. Despite controlling every aspect of the fight, Cobbs couldn’t finish a past his prime Broner.

“He has a tough chin. Look at his neck, his neck is huge. He survived a lot of big blows after getting knocked down,” Cobbs said after the fight.

One judge ruled the fight at 97-91 and the other two ruled the fight at 96-93.  Despite Broner having a few moments in the later rounds but the fight was never close and was absolutely one sided.

“My children motivate me, but this last run is for me,” Broner said. “I did everything for everybody else, so this last run is for me.” If this is indeed the end, Broner can definitely be proud of what he was able to accomplish. Many boxers can’t say that they’ve won championships, let alone in four different divisions.
