Rumors have been swirling about Deontay Wilder (43-4-1 43 KOs) retiring after a series of post have went up on social media saying that he’s retiring from boxing. But is it true that the former WBC heavyweight champion is finally hanging up the gloves for good? If we believe the internet trolls then you assumed that Wilder is done with boxing, despite him not making any official statement himself. Now I’m believer that Wilder should retire after his recent string of losses. He is clearly never going to be the fighter that he use to be. But I’m also a believer that Wilder shouldn’t be the victim of fake news as well.

One week later, the rumor mill started back up again. This time there seems to be some more credibility. Rumor has it that Deontay Wilder will be returning to the ring in April fighting on BLK. Curtis Harper (18-11, 12 KOs) is a name that has been floating around as a potential opponent for Wilder. If Harper is indeed the guy that will be fighting Wilder, then it would be a dramatic step down in competition for what the former WBC heavyweight champion is use to.

Wilder hasn’t made the announcement yet so this is not official. But his manager Shelly Finkle hinted that he could be making an announcement as early as this week upcoming week. Maybe this could be a farewell fight. It would be a great way to see Wilder leave the sport on a positive note as he is solely responsible for making the American heavyweight relevant in boxing again. But in the meantime it looks like Deontay Wilder is not hanging up the gloves just yet.
