Chris Eubank Jr. has been punished with a $129,000 fine for hitting Conor Benn with an egg via a slap.

The incident took place at the first kick-off press conference for their April 26 fight. The bout has been coming for a long time after it was previously agreed in 2022. However, fans never got to see it going ahead as Benn tested positive for Clomiphene. He maintained that he was innocent, as UKAD suspended him pending an investigation. Although Benn is now allowed to fight, fans are not clear about the reason he was cleared.

Benn has not offered an official explanation, leaving many questions unanswered. During the initial stages of the saga, the WBC said the failed tests could have been due to eating too many eggs. The explanation earned Benn much ridicule, something that Eubank reminded him of during the presser. He asked Benn how many eggs he had consumed, calling him a ‘dirty omelette.’ Once Eubank had slapped Benn, he said it was done to humiliate someone who had tested positive.

Eubank Fined

“Did I cross the line? During this whole process I think many lines have been crossed. So me throwing an egg at somebody who absurdly claims that was the reason why he failed two drugs tests, I think that’s light, I think he deserved the embarrassment of what happened, if I had an opportunity to do it again then I would,” Eubank said

However, that action has earned him a big fine from the British Boxing Board of Control. Eubank will argue that his career suffered due to Benn’s failed test. Ben Shalom did not agree with the decision, hinting that Eubank may appeal.

“Following a hearing before the Stewards of the British Boxing Board of Control, Chris Eubank Jr. was found to be in breach of Regulation 25 (misconduct) for his conduct at the press conference in Manchester for the Chris Eubank Jr v Conor Benn contest on 26th April 2025. As such, the Stewards of the Board fined Chris Eubank Jr the sum of £100,000,” British Boxing Board of Control said

“[It was] extremely over the top and ridiculously out of all proportion. Chris left with no choice but to appeal,” Shalom stated

Eubank-Benn Face-Off

The two fighters will cross paths again as they appear on Piers Morgan’s Uncensored Show. Benn made an appearance on the show from the outset of the controversy, as he maintained that he was innocent. The interview earned him much backlash, as he alleged that it could have been due to contamination. Benn was also confident that the ‘science’ would prove that he was innocent. However, no explanation has been given in the public domain for this, leaving Benn’s reputation damaged. There was no love lost between the two fighters, as the clip shows. The two were separated on Morgan’s show by security, showing the fight has now become very personal.
