Should Ryan Garcia vs Rukiya Anpo Be Cancelled?
TASS

Boxing analysts are calling in unison for the cancellation of the upcoming Ryan Garcia (24-1-1, 20 KOs) vs. Rukiya Anpo (27-8-1, 14 KOs).

‘KingRy’ is scheduled to appear in an exhibition fight against the Japanese kickboxer at the RIZIN event in Saitama on December 30, 2024. Calling the fight a tribute of sorts to Manny Pacquiao, who Anpo was allegedly trying to knock out, Garcia is looking forward to teaching his upcoming opponent a lesson. The fight, however, was met with the disapproval of many, including Garcia’s promoter Oscar De La Hoya.

Meanwhile, Anpo has gotten boxing analyst and commentator 2ToneDaSupastar worried and he is calling for the cancellation of the bout.

2ToneDaSupastar recently sat down with Nestor Gibbs and Danny Alvarez on ‘The Boxing Voice’ podcast, where the duo delved into the upcoming fight. Ryan Garcia is my guy, but I want this fight canceled,” 2ToneDaSupastar said.

This was when Gibbs enquired if it was because of the recent face-off fiasco. “Is it cause you seen that face-off and that dude looking big as f–k and him putting his hands on Ryan? He shoving Ryan, he throwing paper at Ryan,” he asked. “Ryan over here doing shoulder rolls, and he like ‘Oh, wait wait. He just shoved the sh*t out of me.’ That’s a big boy.”

The recent face-off showed a noticeable size difference between the duo. At 184 cm, Anpo towered over Garcia, who stands at 174 cm. This difference has certainly gotten 2ToneDaSupastar worried for Garcia’s safety during the fight. However, he still believes that Garcia would be able to use a sturdy weapon in his arsenal against Anpo. “Ryan would have handed that uppercut, he would have put to sleep,” he asked.

“He Overslept”

It sure looks like Anpo isn’t taking his opponent, Garcia, very seriously. In fact, Anpo did not even make it for their press conference in Tokyo, claiming to have “overslept.”

“So, I’m not too thrilled to make this my first statement, but today we were supposed to have Anpo here, but he overslept and missed his flight. But he is on his way to Tokyo as far as I hear,” RIZIN CEO Nobuyuki Sakakibara said. Anpo, however, was “pissed off” that Garcia was unable to make it in person and chose to attend the conference online.
