On 12th April 2025, Undefeated IBF world welterweight champion Jaron “Boots” Ennis (33-0, 29 KOs) will have the opportunity to unify his titles as he faces the WBA world welterweight champion Eimantas Stanionis (15-0, 9 KOs) who is also undefeated.
Boots has decided not to move a step up to 154 before he becomes undisputed champion at 147. He has his eyes set on becoming the WBA champ, Ring Magazine champ, IBF champ and the unified lineal champ of the world at the moment.
On his way to becoming the IBF champion, Boots defeated Karen Chukhadzhian back in 2023 to win the vacant IBF interim welterweight title, he was later crowned full champion after undisputed champion Terence Crawford was stripped of the title ten months later.
Boots has successfully defended his title against David Avanesyan at the Wells Fargo Center and later Karen Chukhadzian in his hometown where he won by unanimous decision.
Boots, 27 years old, wants to follow in the likes of Terence Crawford, Oleksandr Usyk and Naoya Inoue’s footsteps by going undisputed in two different weight classes. This means he will remain at 147 until he collects all four belts to gain the bragging rights, that is when he can challenge for the weight classes above.
“Right now, the only thing I see is the Ring Magazine, WBA and my IBF title around my waist. After that, we can talk about that (going up his weight class) but right now, I’m just focused on what’s in front of me. I’m going to put on a great performance. I’m going to show out. I am going to give you all what you are looking for. I can’t wait. I am excited,” said Boots.
Boots recently turned down a fight against Vergil Ortiz Jr. On the Riyadh Season card that took place on February 22nd. It was a challenge for the WBC interim junior middleweight, and this was not taken lightly by the fans as it was as sign of fear on Boots’ part, and this has affected his support from the fans.
With his recent fights not being that impressive, he has an opportunity to prove his fans wrong and get them back on his hype train as he challenges Stanionis for the WBA title.
The contest is set to take place at Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City, New Jersey.
