On April 21, the post-Easter coaches poll was released for the 2025 college baseball season. Just two schools moved out of the top 25, while the top-10 got reshuffled. Notably, the Vanderbilt Commodores moved up significantly after a big weekend in Nashville.

First, here’s the post-Week 10 coaches’ poll rankings, courtesy of USA Today:

  1. Texas
  2. Clemson (+2)
  3. Oregon State (+3)
  4. Arkansas (-2)
  5. LSU (+2)
  6. Tennessee (-3)
  7. Florida State (+1)
  8. North Carolina (+2)
  9. Georgia (-4)
  10. Vanderbilt (+7)
  11. Auburn (-2)
  12. UC Irvine (+2)
  13. Oklahoma (+3)
  14. West Virginia (+6)
  15. UCLA (-3)
  16. Oregon (+2)
  17. Alabama (-2)
  18. Ole Miss (-7), Arizona (+4)
  19. TIE AT #18
  20. Coastal Carolina (+1)
  21. Louisville (-2)
  22. Georgia Tech (-9)
  23. Troy
  24. Southern Miss (JUMP)
  25. NC State (JUMP)

TCU and Western Kentucky dropped out from last week’s poll.

Arguably, the biggest movers — at least on the positive side — this past week were Vanderbilt. JD Thomspon struck out 14 over eight frames to help Vandy beat Georgia on April 17, part of a three-game sweep of the Bulldogs in Nashville.

The sweep moved Vanderbilt to fifth in the SEC standings. Tennessee, LSU, Arkansas, and Texas are ahead of the Commodores, from four through one.

Speaking of the Bulldogs, Georgia will face Clemson in a mid-week game on April 22. Clemson took two of three from Louisville this weekend to move to #2 in the nation. Luke Gaffney had four hits in Clemson’s two victories.

West Virginia, meanwhile, continues their standout season. The Mountaineers are 34-4 and 13-3 in conference play. WVU swept Big 12 rival Cincinnati last weekend.

The Mountaineers have eight regulars hitting .300 or better, including junior Sam White and USC Upstate transfer Jace Rinehart. Rinehart, who had 17 home runs last season, is currently the team leader in total bases (79).

In other top-25 related news, Oregon State is doing just fine as a de facto independent. The Beavers beat UCLA in a mid-week game, then swept CSUN to move to #3 in the nation. However, perhaps their biggest test before the end of the 2025 season will come over the next week, as OSU will face longtime rival Oregon for four games, three in Eugene and one in Corvallis.

Both schools are in the top 70 of the nation in runs scored.
