Alabama Crimson Tide men's basketball have had a rough go of things for the last few weeks, but got some satisfaction at the expense of its arch rival to end the regular season on Saturday.
Tied in overtime against No. 1 Auburn, Alabama guard Mark Sears delivered the knockout blow with a floater at the buzzer to deliver a 93-91 road stunner for the Crimson Tide. This came just one week after the Tide themselves fell victim to a buzzer-beater at Tennessee and got the pleasure of silencing the rowdy crowd at Neville Arena.

Alabama held an eight-point lead midway through the second half of this rivalry showdown before Auburn quickly clawed its way back into the contest. The two foes traded punches and a Johni Broome layup tied the game late. Neither team could muster up a point in the final minute of regulation, triggering overtime on the Plains.
The two teams would go back-and-forth in OT with Broome burying a clutch three to tie the game again with 15 seconds remaining. That's where the fifth-year senior Sears became the hero for the No. 7 Tide as they officially split the season series against the SEC regular-season champions.
Alabama was on a bit of a slump heading into Saturday's road battle, losing four of their prior six contests. Head coach Nate Oats even admitted prior to the game that there wasn't much at stake for his team in this contest other than pride.
Well the Tide's pride is certainly in tact after Saturday's buzzer-beater and they will head into next week's SEC Tournament with some momentum. Alabama will have a double-bye as the No. 3 seed and won't hit the court at Bridgestone Arena in Nashville until Friday. We'll see if this exciting victory kickstarts a special run.
