The 2025 NCAA Tournament selection committee has given the Arizona Wildcats the No. 4 seed in the East Regional.
Arizona will take on No. 13 seed Akron on Friday in Seattle. The winner will play either No. 5 seed Oregon or No. 12 seed Liberty in the second round of the 2025 NCAA Tournament.
Akron won the MAC regular season and conference title, finishing with a 17-1 league record and went 28-6 overall. Akron has now made the NCAA Tournament seven times, including three of the last four years, but the Zips have never won a game in the Big Dance.
Last season, the Wildcats were the No. 2 seed in the West Regional. Arizona wound up losing to Clemson in the Sweet 16 by a score of 77-72.
Arizona finished the regular season with a 22-12 record, including a 14-6 record in Big 12 play. Recently, the Wildcats were taken down by Houston in the Big 12 Championship Game 72-64.
The Wildcats are led by Caleb Love, who leads the team in scoring, averaging 16.6 points per game. For his stellar play, Love was a First-Team All-Big 12 selection this year. He is joined by two Big 12 Honorable Mentions, Henri Veesaar and Tobe Awaka, who both established themselves as dominant pieces in the frontcourt for Tommy Lloyd’s squad. Other notable contributors include KJ Lewis, Jaden Bradley, and Carter Bryant who combine for nearly 30 points per game.
Arizona has made 38 NCAA Tournament appearances while reaching four Final Fours, and winning a National Championship in 1997. The Wildcats have an overall record of 60-37 in March Madness.
