Head basketball coaches across the country are frantically working the transfer portal, making every effort to add players to their 2025-26 rosters.
At the same time, while adding new talent, they are also managing their current lineups to prevent any more players from entering the portal before it officially closes on Tuesday.
Some of the latest news involves a former Player of the Year moving to a new conference. This player is heading from the Horizon League to the Big Ten, a conference that saw eight teams make the NCAA Tournament.
Jonathan Givony of Draft Express reported the news Sunday: "NEWS: Robert Morris transfer Alvaro Folgueiras - the Horizon League Player of the Year - has committed to Iowa, his agents Deirunas Visockas and Blas Parra told ESPN".

Folgueiras played 66 games at Robert Morris, including 40 starts. During the 2024–25 season, he averaged 13.8 points and 8.9 rebounds per game.
Before joining Robert Morris, he spent one season at DME Academy in Daytona Beach, Florida.
McCollum will begin his third head coaching job in as many seasons. After leading Northwest Missouri State to the NCAA Division II Sweet 16 in 2023-24, he accepted the head coaching position at Drake.
In his lone season with the Bulldogs, he guided the team to 31 wins and captured both the Missouri Valley Conference regular season and tournament titles. He was hired at Iowa following Fran McCaffery’s tenure, during which McCaffery compiled a 297-207 record.
Iowa has missed the NCAA Tournament in each of the past two seasons. The Hawkeyes' last appearance came in 2023, when they entered as a No. 8 seed and lost in the first round to Auburn.
